Just spent 20 minutes looking at the M2 , first time looking at the car properly BMW have made an awful looking M car no doubt .
Wheels look completely lost and the add on bits just make the car even less appealing.
The interior is very good but why would you buy such an awful design, looked to see how many cars are available second hand and there’s a lot don’t think dealers are going to shift these at £60k plus .
I believe it’s a good car to drive not surprised given the cars wider track but hell it’s an ugly, boring thing.

Stever.
I definitely get your point and that has proven to be the case with many manufacturers new offerings but there is a big difference between a very poor design and a new design direction.
I think the market is rejecting the car based on its design .
BMW as a brand got this one wrong.
Just look at the amount of low miles M2s that are available on PH and other popular sites not to mention BMWs own used site.
Clearly and without question miles off previous M cars.
How many customers went from M car to new model M2 , I am guessing not many particularly when you see it in the metal.
Perhaps designers are confused as to what the customer wants and the electric car deadline has added more uncertainty to designing a new car for ever growing markets on different continents like Asia.

Reverend I can’t remember any M model receiving such stick over the looks as this M2 .
You could understand some liking or disliking any new car but this is just a poor effort no excuses, no arguments it’s a truly ugly disappointment.
The shame is it seems to be a really good M car to drive.
To my eyes another really poor effort is the dash of the new GR Yaris that’s M2 awful.
Being more positive about design a friend retired and bought Alpine A110 which to me eyes is a stunning design.

20 minutes looking at a car in the metal is more than enough time to form an opinion, some people decide in seconds as to a car’s appearance on the road as they are driving.
Understandably you are defensive towards the car you have spent your hard earned money on.
I merely expressed my thoughts on the design I cannot comment on the performance as I have not driven the car even though I was offered a test drive , which is saying something as I have had a couple of M cars.
I stick by my view it’s a very poor effort and as mentioned by others in earlier posts something is clearly off when the 240i looks a better more cohesive design.
I think BMW tried to appeal to all markets with this M2 and made a mess of it.
Earlier M cars had presence and real appeal with there design just look at the 1M coupe as an example a thing of beauty , doubt the M2 will be seen in the same way in ten years.
The other thing is the sheer weight of the car with driver and passenger must be close to 2 tons which is a nonsense for M coupe.

Sorry you feel this way I certainly didn’t want to annoy you or indeed any new owners of the M2 that was not my intention ,you just have to accept others have different ideas on this particular car.
Let’s be realistic this Forum provides a platform for like minded people to express themselves
It’s a level playing field for everyone whether you agree or disagree on any vehicle.
My view is an honest one based on the design nothing more.

Seriously, you seem unable to accept others have opinions , perhaps this is not the forum for you.
Even other M2 owners accept it’s not a good design but you have got yourself worked up for no reason.
I do hope you continue to enjoy your car as they say in Ireland “well wear” which means may it serve you well.

You come across as someone who can’t take criticism of there chosen car and then gets personal.
I will rise above personal criticism of your posts.
It’s a forum about cars nothing else you should remember that and to repeat everybody is entitled to their views regarding the M2.
Learn to just disagree not criticise any forum member in the future.
I pity the next forum member to say anything about the M2 !!!
No doubt you are sitting there keyboard at the ready.

Looking at the amount of new model M2 for sale new or lightly used there are roughly around 200 cars available.between BMW ,PH and Autotrader sites.
Given the car is a recent launch that’s a lot , don’t think the car attracted a premium that I am aware of and that suggests the overall the design has not been well received.
I suspect current owners may well be taking some big losses when time comes to sell.
Compare this to the M3 touring and it’s a completely different picture for another M product in the same market.
As someone else mentioned the body kit add ons for the M2 are just ridiculous, Halfords and Max power
come to mind .

Out for lunch today in Llandeillo South Wales spotted M2 in Grey parked up , elderly gentleman standing looking at the car shaking his head and laughing at the design !!
Turned out this chap has owned some really interesting cars over the years including ex Paddy Hopkirk Cooper S , couple of early Porsche and a Renault 5 turbo 2 which was his favourite that he really regrets selling.
Gentleman thinks that BMW have lost direction and the M2 summed it up .
Got to say I agree it’s an awful looking “M” car and the Grey is terrible.
Perhaps some classic M colours would help the looks but I doubt it.

Hedgeman counting other forum members posts is a a bit creepy.
However i do agree that enough has been said regarding the awful M2 exterior design.
The interior looks great and reading road tests and PH owners feedback suggests the M2 is very capable on UK roads which is not surprising given the cars wide track.
