Bangers and Cash - Yesterday channel

I'm amazed so long after starting this thread the show has got so much positive feedback. It's also great that someone involved with the show is able to listen to and respond to the criticism and praise maybe this is how social media should work when shaping TV shows?
I've only caught one episode of the current series but they're all recorded for my upcoming week of rest.

Before we get carried away I’ve been catching up on episodes from my iPad.
One for Mumblesboy, can you ask whoever does the stuff on the app to set the advertising to play in natural breaks in the show, it’s edited for adverts so rather than just randomly spaced in the middle of talking use those breaks.

I will pass that on to someone as I can imagine that is irritating, especially as finding the right structure to build up the parts to a natural breakpoint is harder than you might think.
I’m sure you know that’s a channel thing and beyond what I have any influence over but I will pass it on.
I can imagine a lot of work goes into editing the shows together. Just seems odd that whoever deals with the on demand stuff doesn’t appear to care where the advertisements are placed. I’m sure you know that’s a channel thing and beyond what I have any influence over but I will pass it on.
Unless it’s to stop people ripping episodes cleanly. Like when they would play a jingle mid way through the number one record on the top 40

Caught some the previous episodes last night. From the TV program its seems the auctions are very small with only limited buyers. Do they have a large online customer base to sell the cars and memorabilia?
Pre Covid the auctions were far busier than they look on TV, plus online/telephone and absentee bids help. cardigankid said:
Try 'if the blonde girl isn't here, we are going to go off and make a programme about something else'.
It's a great programme, but I do fear the innate distortion of reality which television inevitably involves. IMHO, television is a fake up, and everyone involved in it are phonies. Look what has happened to the antiques business since Bargain Hunt, Flog It!, Antiques Road Trip and the rest took hold. If you have been in an auction house while that sort of tripe is being filmed you will have seen how the whole thing is staged. Great Western Auctions in Glasgow is just a stage set these days.
Bargain Hunt etc have been faked from the very start. I remember when David Dickinson was still presenting it and even back then the items chosen by the teams were actually selected by the researchers and the price negotiations took place off camera with them often offering to pay more than would be agreed on screen. "Renault Sport Spider, haven't got a clue"
remember when they were first introduced.A sort of up market Caterham idea with no roof (ever IIRC), a bit Lotus Elise , came out at the same time.
received rapturous applause from the motoring Press but never caught on in the UK. Were they all yellow and grey?
Cool thing in it’s day but not practical and probably would have fared far better if it came out after the much loved Clio 172 etc.

My dad passed this morning and i will watch the show tonight with a stiff drink in hand.
I am in bits but he is at peace now i suppose.
Of all the cars he had he would always bang on about his anglia . I suppose it was special as he courted my mum in that car and they travelled all over in it.
So bangers and cash will be my tonic tonight.
I’ve just properly caught up with my Dad today for the first time in a few days. I am in bits but he is at peace now i suppose.

One thing that came up was this show and in particular the Police car which is one than he actually drove during his time in Durham constabulary.
It caused something in me to recall your post here. All my favourite Dad memories are somehow car related and that never dies out. I hope your own good memories can outweigh the loss you must feel.

As always, Derek himself is the weak point of the show. He knows fk all about most of the cars and cares even less. "Renault Sport Spider, never even heard of it before, I know nothing about this car". Talk about underselling. Spend one goddamn minute on Wikipedia, you lazy arse. That 1926 Dodge should have made far more too. A true "museum quality" restoration. One of the younger lads made some inane comment about it not being terribly practical, thereby completely missing the point.
At least his daughter-in-law comes across as enthusiastic, intelligent and basically competent, if not hugely knowledgeable...
Nonetheless, if I had anything halfway interesting that I was looking to shift and get any meaningful return on, I would not send it to Mathewsons. The boss is an incompetent embarrassment to the car trade. As for his use of "volunteers", if by that he means part-time employees who have been drafted in to assist, that’s one thing, but resorting to unpaid labour in a profitable business is not on.
He’s honest. He doesn’t blag. Would you rather be patronised by some clueless twonk who can regurgitate the internet to inform you? At least his daughter-in-law comes across as enthusiastic, intelligent and basically competent, if not hugely knowledgeable...

I’d rather trust someone who has built a successful business without resorting to slimy salesmen, needing to market everything with a million photos and the ridiculous overheads.
As for a young person expressing a view on a 1926 bus? Lighten up it’s only TV.

It is the duty of any auctioneer to do some research on what they are selling if they are not familiar with it. One minute on Wikipedia would have told him it was a bit special, and given him something to work with on his rostrum. Angus shows what a small rural Yorkshire auctioneer can and should be like.
Going off topic slightly. But I’m not sure how well you know Angus, I know how well I know him though and while he knows his stuff I know him and his team don’t thoroughly research or upsell every item in a sale. Which is exactly the same as every auctioneer in the world. The specialist auctioneers or special sales at other sale rooms are often thoroughly researched. But general sales are often done on existing knowledge and relying on smart punters/internet reach being enough.
If auctions always achieved the best price possible dealers would never buy from them. But it’s one of the main sources of stock for many businesses.

I’ve been on here 160 months and quite honestly I’ve been able to completely avoid getting into any kind of pointless keyboard warrior arguments the whole time.
But you know what… this place has become an absolute joke, full of wannabe ‘woke’ man bag holding tts.
I won’t let the door smack my arse on the way out
Adios

It was me who suggested a comment was creepy. As said if you’re unable to understand why that comment and similar come over as creepy then you need to learn a little bit more about how the world is for women.
I can tell a female friend she’s looking good when I see her, but reducing women on the internet to how they look is shallow and disrespectful.
