The 'Bladerunners' are right

Undoubtedly stupid idea indeed, and even if you were in support of the general backlash against ULEZ, I think anyone would draw the line at the point when people start doing things like this, especially when it puts people or their property at risk, it defeats the purpose..
But like I said, there needs to be a bit of sense here - it sounds like it was a firework-esque item, rightly or wrongly people have used fireworks / bangers to wreck things like speed cameras for years, there was one along a 40mph road where I used to live, that bordered a pretty rough estate, and it was regularly destroyed, repaired, destroyed, repaired.. Think they gave up fixing it after a while..
Point being there's a big gap between dangerous but still ultimately petty vandalism, and something akin to a high profile terror attack. I dare say this falls much closer to the former, I don't think you need to be a Facebook conspiracy theorist to see that

First person sentenced, for painting a camera, 100 hours community service.
The vans have been suspended, either because not legal, or the security don't have the required qualifications.
Bonkers. Yesterday news had a woman on whose husband was killed by a driver pulling out into his path from a side road when he was on his motorbike. She was a teacher it seems. The vans have been suspended, either because not legal, or the security don't have the required qualifications.
She pleaded to death by careless driving and got 140 hours community service order and a 12m ban. for killing a guy, doing nothing wrong, who she could see clearly for 200 metres before her junction.

it's also totally the wrong tool for the job. Painting the lenses, cutting the wires, removing the cameras with a spanner all good.
Blowing them up? Sounds like Clarkson joined the bladerunners ranks!
Yeah, one of the few convictions was last week, 100 hours community service + £300 compensation after being caught red-handed spraying a camera. He seems to be self-employed so it's probably not going to be too much of a problem. I'd think if somebody is caught with a shed full of cameras that might be a problem, but random yet disruptive vandalism isn't going to be punished harshly. I can't see a conviction for this ending up with less than 5 years in prison, probably closer to 10?Blowing them up? Sounds like Clarkson joined the bladerunners ranks!

Blowing cameras up IRA style is OTT and a waste of gunpowder.

LOL so I guess if TFL turn up to repair a damaged camera then even though it's obvious the bat box has just been stuck there they legally can't touch it until presumably some other qualified professional has evaluated it and confirmed no bats, which I assume takes weeks+DaveCWK said:

No, not that one.
The London Mayoral election today reminded me of this thread. I guess we'll see how Londoners feel about ULEZ based on the result?
I'm not a Londoner myself and an infrequent visitor by car so I have no strong views either way, but curious what result would be interpreted as a rejection of ULEZ other than outright defeat for Khan. If its an X% drop in support despite winning, what would X be?

There is more to the London mayoral election than ULEZ.
Bar a few nutters who obsess over ULEZ, life moves on as normal
Khan will win but not by the colossal margin as predicted in the polls and not because of ULEZ as the last YouGov poll showed that whilst Londoners will more than likely vote for him, they are not overly impressed by him. His performance can best be described as 'meh'. Its just the opposition is simply so woeful.
Hall ran a very negative and gaff prone campaign and was constantly defending her past questionable actions and comments and had little support from Tory HQ. She majored heavily on ULEZ but hadn't realised the Londoners have higher priorities and that the most vocal voices don't even live in London - she was appealing to those who can't vote. Madness.
So don't take a reduced vote count for Khan as an anti-ULEZ backlash. Take it as he was decided to be the best of a bad bunch.

He will have his pay per mile charge instigated by the end of the year and then how long before all the other major cities see what a cash cow it is.
