Just wondering if a anyone’s ISA (stocks and shares) has done worse than my own? Grown a whopping 3% over 5 years!

I’m sure banks would have paid more! All dividends earned got erased beginning of 2020, most may never recover.

Not sure yet. I started an ambitious Wealthify plan early last year and it’s grown about 3%, which is excellent given the utter ststorm that’s been going on.
3% in a year is 5 times better than my performance!

Various shares, no funds. Oilers and airlines...... Amgo is my new safe place that’s how bad things have been!

Well, I know I’ve put in X over the years and now I’m sitting at X + 3%.

Maybe the next 5 years will do better!

Vodafone is one that’s been on a down hill slide for years, centrica.... when do you get out? Time in is better than timing but how much time?

I expect my house to have dropped a bit too! I’d have done better to short my share decisions...

How come you decided to pick stocks rather than buying a fund and diversifying ?
I think it’s called passive gambling or lucky dip! Hindsight......

Well for what it’s worth exactly 12 months ago I decided to ditch half of my isa and instead invest it in another new business. Hasn’t gone bust yet so doing better than AMGO but we will see. My hope is for 100% return yoy.

I was all cash until a while ago, then started again dripping into various funds. Obviously all down massively and I have no control or foresight.

My own business I started about a year ago….. things are looking pretty good so far. If I were to sell now I’d still be 250k down but lots of upfront costs unfortunately.

Mini update:

My ISA’s are probably around 50% up now mainly thanks to Rolls Royce (RR.). As I own an engineering company and know first hand how difficult it is to get skilled staff etc and how in demand the services are I kept drip feeding money into RR then it popped - twice.

AMGO died
My new business venture grew fantastically, then hit the buffers and I’ve now got a £200k capital loss as a reward for my efforts.

My main company is still going strong luckily
