Sounds very risky. Could be like Brendan again if the rumours there was correct. Coach says I want this person for my tactics, those above say no person x is better… it probably means less big swings when changing managers, but think there is a lot of risk with it.
Exactly what happened with Rogers. He wants player A; he's offered a choice between players B and C. He then 'had the final say' on transfers, but it masked the reality of what was going onSeems like Klopp was then a part of the structure involving Edwards but there was clearly tension there over time, given how Edwards and then his replacement left. Reading between the lines it appears Slot has been employed in a different role to Klopp, 1 that Slot is used to, so 1 would hope those tensions in the past are now irrelevant. I guess we'll see. Can't always guarantee bringing expensive strangers together will work.
I'm less worried about Slot and more about our DoF, who came from Brighton. Hopefully he will step up ok.

Coach is offered 3 players. Thinks they are crap. Gots told to pick one anyway. That’s what the rumors suggest happened before. They might know their roles when coming in and so on, but it’s a question how do three people get on, and what happens if they completely disagree on new signings?

Bang on that is, regarding Salah, is a change going to be as good as a break?
Let's hope so!
It's a tough one to call. He does seem to have lost his edge at the minute, but hopefully a break will do him the world of good and potentially a subtle change of role could re-invigorate him. They do say that form is temporary, class is permanent after all. Let's hope so!
My view with regards to him moving on is that it's 100% down to him. If he wants to go then we should let him and cash in, if he wants to stay then sort out a contract extension. Will be interesting to see how he reacts to the new team coming in and how the new boss see's his place in his plans.
Going to e a very interesting summer.

The cynic in me is wondering whether the noises about discussing a new deal with Salah are actually to trigger the Saudis into making a move sooner rather than later
Quite possibly. We know Edwards has very strong views and a lot of say going forward and that could well be the tactic, and who knows what came out of the conversations with Slot. They could well see Salah as the golden goose to be used to fund a bit of an overhaul?Only time will tell..
Remember Edwards isn't focusing just on Liverpool - he works for FSG and has a wider brief. It's our sporting director and his assistant who will be the main guys that Slot will work to/with. Although 1 would think for a few months at least that Edwards will be quite hands on.
Now I understand how Brendan's experience with the car crash we had before as "sporting director" (or equivalent) might cause us to worry that similar might happen here but conversely, if Klopp had got his way, we wouldn't have signed Salah. If Klopp HADN'T got his way, we would never have signed Karius... It can work both ways.
If it goes wrong - the worst that will happen is Slot leaves and another coach comes in. The management structure is in place and that won't change. We have to hope it's a successful one. Ultimately it's 3 appointments - the SD, his assistant, and Slot - that all have to work. And they're all new in post. Most of those writing articles I've seen about Slot's appointment are positive about this "coach not manager" role. I am cautiously optimistic and quite excited. While keeping my fingers crossed...

Same here, I don’t think he’ll be with us next season. He will leave an all time great.
New manager, couple of new players and CLThink he will do one more year and leave on a free, for a nice sign on bonus in Saudi in Summer 2025

He's given us literally the best football of our lives, made us believe every match is winnable when he's on the pitch and has always given everything.
Top 5 Liverpool player of all time? Absolutely.

'Manchester United, Manchester City and Aston Villa voted against the possible introduction of a spending cap on Monday, while Chelsea abstained.'https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/articles/cpeg...
What a shock...
I think it's a good thing as it levels the playing field somewhat, hopefully it will put the emphasis firmly on youth development

I bet Levy over at Spurs loved the idea as could spend even less of his huge profits on new players and get no earache for it.

A substack from Josh Williams, who likes a good stat or 2, about appointing Slot and whether we should be excited or concerned (spoiler alert, he thinks the former):
