Audi Quattro 20v strangely

You can’t imagine that now really can you!

It’s the same one where the M3 Sport Evolution E30 was ‘undriveable’ and a Land Rover Discovery was in the lineup.
Think the Audi won because it was a car you could enjoy all year round, rather than just short blasts.

Which is fair enough as the SZ is LHD and for all its undulating road absorbing qualities hewn from the 75 IMSA, go over a grate and it feels like someone has electrocuted your spine

Can you imagine if Alfaholics did one of these?

It would be McLaren F1 GTR levels of euromillions wishlist wantage.
Hehe I'm in that process of making a "alfaholics" 75 3.0, 100kg lighter, tan leather (red exterior) and a 245hp 24V (164) engine. smile

(ok its lacking a full carbon body but it will have fibreglass bonnet/trunk)

I don't recall that! What happened, had someone stolen the steering wheel or something? I suppose if you were used to driving <100bhp econoboxes for a living then it might have drawn some overexaggerated 'journalism', though even at 2.5 litres the S14 was about as torquey and spikey as a 2CV - nice chassis balance too.

The guy who nominated it for the test ( Blick ) put it behind the Quattro in 1st - he put Alfa SZ 3rd

The guy who raved about the M3 Sport Evo on the full test ( editor at the time - Calderwood ) put it 3rd and the Alfa SZ second

They just reckoned that overall the Alfa was more of an occasion
And faster on track

I don’t really recall any really bad reviews or people ‘missing the point’ as was said earlier

Then again I may not have read the review in question - more the mainstream UK mags
