Thank you!
Lovely run out in it this morning, it maybe 44 years old but it’s still an absolute joy to drive. I was grinning from ear to ear.
Just my kind of road that too.Lovely run out in it this morning, it maybe 44 years old but it’s still an absolute joy to drive. I was grinning from ear to ear.
I've got a 1997 Toyota Paseo I bought as a joke, but driving it reminds me just how much of a tactile joy even very ordinary cars used to be. I can well imagine that's a far more delightful thing to punt down a little U road on a sunny day that any modern "sports" hippo.

Three days, good weather - no excuses.
Sunday; oil and coolant checks, trickle charger off, de-isolate, 10s of fuel pump whir and a couple of pumps of the throttle... Nothing... Crank with no throttle this time and it catches; cunningly sized bit of 2x4 inserted to leave running up to 70° whilst I do the tires (must get new tires, these ones are 1980.)
Yesterday - run out to a NT place about 45min away. No beats missed, tracks well at 60mph, brakes *really* well for a 88yo car (that'll be the asbestos...)
Considering the grief some folk have with cars from the 1990s!

My Elise is non servo assist - and that can be a bit of a worry.
You really realise how much technology has advanced with modern cars. Especially braking. My Mk 3 scirocco stops as soon as I dab the pedal - and it is no doubt seriously more ‘Weighty’ than the MK 1.
But the Storm is a gorgeous helm to occupy. Fizzy 1.6 injected lump. It’s really quick even for today.
It’s beautiful place to be.
I know they were seriously expensive when they came on sale in the early eighties ~ £ 8 K. It’s strange how the Golf GTi became the one to have. To me the Scirocco was so bloody good looking.
LJK Setright knew his stuff. He had one.
