Yes, I’ve had him today. Had another one a few months back, and it all started to ring a bell with me again. Lots of questions about an Aston I have for sale and then dropped the “can you run a report” even offering to reimburse me. I have told him to go and do one.

Autocheck link was sent too.

Everyone be careful.

Possible new one here? Oddly, two emails sent that are identical, about two very different cars that I have for sale. Forgive the cynic in me, but after 30 years of selling car sin the motor trade, this is not normally how I used to receive enquiries.......

Be aware of this one boys and girls.

I've just been Alan'd too. Also on an A45. Same number, same email address. Same messages. Sounds legit etc and then pushed for Autochecks. I ended up paying the £19 because I thought I might as well... but then of course no report. Then Googled and ended up here....

Is there anything we can do to get Alan's number, website etc cancelled? Where do you report phishing?

Another one……..

Pistonheads, I appreciate that there must only be so much you can do here, but this is getting tedious. I never get as much cr@p from any other media sites when selling a car.

Got another one, this time it’s Sam on WhatsApp, phone number +44 7884 799912.

The website they’re pushing is hpiautohistory.com.

I told them they can use RAC and I’ll take it off the price, then they laid it on to try and push it through;

“I’m driving an hour with a friend, don’t haggle negotiate, spending over 100”.

They’ve since deleted the message containing the website from WhatsApp, but I’d ran it through scamadviser which marked it as suspicious… too slow buddy.

Take care out there.

Typical scam website. Registered for the minimum 1 year as they usually get shut down quickly. Cheap and easily replaced.

I have literally only just joined this page to say thank you!!!

If it wasn’t for this thread/message I would have fallen for “Sam’s” message! Same website and same message!

It says on the Auto Checks website that they're powered by Data Edge Technologies Ltd. A quick look at Companies House shows that Data Edge Technologies is less than a year old and registered to a PO Box in Cardiff and only has one director.

Not at all fishy.

Hi there,
Alan at work again & I nearly fell for it.
T 7441 916029.
Scammer!

Sorry, I can't drop by without making sure if everything's ok with it cause I've had almost ripped off before as the car was cat c and the seller didn't mention it so I'm just being cautious, I'd appreciate if you can get an updated AAC check from autochecks .co .uk so I can look at it and start with the arrangements to collect it, don't worry about paying for it we'll adjust in our deal, thanks

Same here. I did run my own Experian one as it is useful to have in the paperwork for £5, but the moron did try quite hard until I smelt a rat.

Just had this from the same number but didn't get to the point of him introducing his name!

I said he was welcome to call me but he said he was at work and was better to text which got me suspicious immediately, plus I'm a cynic as there are alot of time-wasters out there. Asked me to send a report to his partners email address (which was my point of realising!), I said I had one already to see what he said, he asked for one from autochecks.co.uk. I then told him to stop wasting my time and no response!

Number was 07441 916029
Email was sarahalex3751@gmail.com

Hopefully more people see this and realise before they spend money on a pointless report that a buyer should get anyway.
