Leasing - General Discussion
Discussion
I posted a separate thread but thought I’d ask you knowledgable folk
My Leaf is due back early May but I want to send it back one month before to avoid warranty expiry, service/MOT shenanigans etc
Early this year it started making a mechanical buzzing noise from the charger port on lock/unlock, all working fine but a bit of a loud noise. Took it to Nissan in Feb who were useless but after a few workshop trips it needs a part which is on 6-8 week backorder
So, a dilemma. Do I tell the lease co and get ahead of them potentially saying I have to pay to fix it? Or just ignore it-it’s just a funny noise, everything works

Tip for anyone below their mileage limit...
I have 1 year left on a 3 year deal.
Contacted them (Zen Auto) for a price for a one year extension, but also a price to keep the original 3 years and reduce the total mileage by 1/3 (my car was off the road for a very large part of year 1 awaiting parts under warranty so I did a year of mileage in courtesy cars).
1 year extension was not too bad, but not a bargain so didn't do it.
Reducing mileage on the existing term is going to save me £80/month for the final year!
So worth asking the question of the provider if they will reduce your payments if your mileage is going to be significantly under!

I'm sure I read on a post on here a few weeks back that not many places offer GAP insurance anymore/it's not really a thing like it was a few years ago?
Is this the case? I've just had a quote for some through ALA - I'm paying £3k downpayment on a lease which arrives this week, and it's an Audi who will definitely not sell for anything like its £52k RRP so I do see where there could be issues if something were to happen.
I'm happy to pay the ALA price but I remember reading something on here which has given me some doubts.

I'm coming to the end of my third lease now and it's time to just buy something rather than get into another lease. The costs are so high they're just a bad idea if you want something half decent.
Sadly the halcyon days of decent motors for £250 per month are long gone in my opinion.
I dont know in the first year of lockdown I got a distress lease Abarth 595 Competizione for 15k miles a year for 220 a month. Sadly the halcyon days of decent motors for £250 per month are long gone in my opinion.
I've just picked up a Nissan Qashqai (ok not exciting) but a pre reg on 10k miles a year for 220 a month.
I think that's a good deal.

Gap is considered poor value by the FCA who have asked providers to generally withdraw the product unless they can demonstrate value. ALA are apparently okay to continue selling beyond the cut off date. The investigation and withdrawal has been triggered by the level of commission offered to resellers such as dealers appearing excessive.

Quick query about lease terms
I’m getting prices and wanted initially 36 months as happy to keep the car for 3 years and wanted to stretch the deposit, just been speaking to a broker and he said why don’t you go for 2 years and extend the lease.
Are there any thoughts/experiences on this please?
Thanks

Dilemma - advice needed....
About to hand back Audi Q5 after 3.7 years.
Someone has keyed driver side door, rear door and rear panel....pretty badly....won't polish out.
Do I pay a local place to fix it before handing back to VWFS (BCA) or do I hand it back as it and take their bill? I don't want to pay twice if the local place don't do a good enough job, but then again I don't know what kind of charge I can expect from the leasing company.
What would you do? Pics attached.

My mrs Sportage rolled into corner of our garage (don’t ask) bricks are very course.
Splitter, Bumper, Grill & Bonnet marked, handed back & never got billed for anything.
If you know a detailer, wet sanding would probably improve that no end.
