Buying a used Taycan

Big battery, pan roof, 2 plus 1 rear seats, turbo style wheels
As above, but I find the 4 wheel steering to be the best option……. When mine went in for service couldn’t believe how poor the same 4S loaner felt in comparison (both around town and when pushing on) without this. Also found the full leather raised the interior to a level it should be in a £100k plus car. I would also say the CT body shape looks stunning. I get more compliments and head turns than when driving my 812SF.Best daily I’ve ever had; not really bothered about the depreciation as can’t think of anything else I’d want to replace it with so will likely keep for sometime. Was going to buy a turbo/s but once I drove the 4S demo I knew this was way more than enough for a daily snotter and changed by order. Never once felt I needed more performance.

Totally agree with you Gary, it seems that people forget about the actual car and all the positives focus soley on the depreciation.
of course they focus on depreciation, these are incredibly expensive cars and who wants a £50k+ bath in 18 months + intertest if you're paying monthly, only the super rich who can afford to spunk £150k on a car with cash and not care about depreciation fall in that bracket, and very well off off don't get that way by spunking loads of cash on high depreciating assets, unless it's through a business and is tax efficient. bobhitch said:
Of course no one wants to waste money.
What I am saying is that depreciation/cost of ownership is just one of the factors involved in the decision making process whether to buy, not the only factor.
Yeah totally agree then :-) Taycan seem to be suffering horrendous depreciation, coupled with technology that will be out of date very quickly and batteries with a shelf life, they seem a crazy purchase at current list pricesWhat I am saying is that depreciation/cost of ownership is just one of the factors involved in the decision making process whether to buy, not the only factor.
I bought mine for 100K through the company, rather than post tax money, so it’s effectively half price. Yes, it’s lost 30K in 2 years, so effectively 15K out of my own pocket. Not bad and I also benefit from the insurance and maintenance being business expenses. I’m pretty happy with this outcome, given how good the car has been.
Too many people seem to be worrying on my behalf!

These EV's will be like other tech devices, who wants an old IPad or IPhone?, they aren't something that evokes an emotional connection like an internal combustion engine does. In ten years these current EV's will be getting scrapped as nobody will want them. New EV's will be cheaper/faster/more efficient and on a monthly rental payment, there really won't be a market for these old ones.
With that in mind and the environmental / human costs (kids mining rare earth minerals in Africa) involved to produce the batteries in these cars and the weight of the things on the road and brake particulates produced they surely must be much worse than a petrol car for the environment?

As much as I've been critical of Porsche on here, a Taycan is a really nice and good car to pedal.
As much as I'd be nervous of dropping money on one, I do keep a close eye on the market. bailey's post prompted me to take an updated look and even contact a dealer on one of their approved cars - "fortunately" it's been sold. I can see me getting one, for the right price and spec, at some point. They really are good cars. and for those with doubts about EVs, get an extended test drive.
PS bailey - for me...
- performance battery+
- 2+1 rear seats
- pano roof
- rear steer
- PTV (the 4S CT I tried last year had it...)
- Bose (or higher)
- heated seats
- adaptive cruise (you can add other stuff as FoD if you have this)
- full leather or leather/racetex (the std interior is far fro plush feeling).
There's a bigger list of stuff I'd also prefer to have (matrix headlights, lane change assist, comfort access, 4 zone climate, roof rails, dimming/folding mirrors etc etc), but that's all optional.

A £100K Taycan purchased pre-April 2023, Corporation Tax (@19%) "saved" (TBC/pushed into the future): £19K.A £100K Taycan sold post-April 2023 for £70K, Corporation Tax (@26.5%, between £50K-£250K) due: £18.55K.
£450... Even a Taycan's depreciation can't outrun unexpected Corporation Tax changes.
Per: Taycan 4S Cross Turismo

Mine is the same, Turbo (with 30k of options) with 31k miles and halved in value as well, cant give it away !! Fortunately I love it but could do with the estate now.
Porsche offered £65k against a new CT Turbo

At least the ~£150K(?, 2020?) Taycan Turbo with a recent/2023 Porsche Part-Ex value, against another Taycan(!) (CT Turbo), of £65K may have a £11.2K Corporation Tax saving...Porsche offered £65k against a new CT Turbo

Easy answer….. just don’t sell it then. This obsessiveness over values is now almost becoming smug gloating from the EV haters. Bloody hell, I’ve spunked hundreds of thousands on factory ordered M’s and AMG’s over the years and can’t remember anybody gleefully educating me on how much money I was shredding. Just a few pats on the back for living the dream. My Taycan CT is deprecating similarly to most ICE cars in its peers. Bought through my firm so actually I’m in clover (relatively). Its so good, no plans on selling so don’t have to worry about it’s value coming back in to the balance sheet. Even if I did, I’d likely be buying another BEV and benefit from the 100% write down at 25% on that.
My opinion; if you can pick up a lightly used Taycan at a big discount to new, get it bought and enjoy; cracking car.
Thanks for the option tips. Pan roof and full leather were 2 I knew I wanted but I thought 4 wheel steering was standard.
I would def order a 4s if I was buying new but Turbos are really good value used.
Definitely going for a Taycan. Was almost tempted by a M850i but a Taycan suits the type of mileage I do much better.
Not too fussed about body style. Will buy on spec and condition.

Just for a little bit of input, after 31k in my taycan (4 door turbo one) I have been hankering after a CT for months now, finally in a position where i sorted various bits and bobs out to make it happen and went and drove one .....
They drive quite differently to a 4 door one, I am not going to say worse or better becease in my view now they both met different needs.
This is probably not suprising but I didnt think it would be so pronounced, CT certainly softer ride, more body roll and bit more diving under heavy breaking but certainly much better suited on UK roads.
Go back in my turbo and it felt tighter and more sports car like but crashes more relatively over the bumps and imperfections.
So CT not for me, I am of to try the ST next ... if I can find one, for some reason they dont seem very popular and have the worst residulas which is great if you want a lightly used one.
Re depreciation / cost / tax, yes the depreciation is bad but its the only car currently that I want as a daily, just suits all of my needs, mine replaced a 911 Turbo and there is no way I wold go back to that over the Taycan.

If the ST has the worst residuals I’d be all over one. It’s my fav. Seen a black one with a roof box and it looked great. They drive quite differently to a 4 door one, I am not going to say worse or better becease in my view now they both met different needs.

Saloon has grown on me massively since I have been looking but the CT isn’t for me.
Have to admit if I had a 911 Turbo the only car I’d be happy swapping it for would be a GT3.
