Hi All,
Had the rear brake pads and discs done today at Lloyd Blackpool. The retaining pins had seized which the had to cut and knock out. £500 all in including switching over my winters to the summers. They didn’t charge me for the labour to get the pins out. Got a courtesy car FOC as it was a waiting appointment so I could get about for the day which was nice. All in all a very good service as usual.
Having said that I’m back on the 19 inch Goodyear run flats that are so bloody firm compared to the pilot sport alpines the replaced.
83k mile F31 35d.
That's not a bad price to be fair; I take it you have standard brakes and not the blue Brembo's with 370/345mm discs?Had the rear brake pads and discs done today at Lloyd Blackpool. I was at Lloyds today with my Dad collecting his i5 whilst his X3M has some work done under warranty (weirdly the tailgate has twisted)!
The one thing I'm very glad I've done with my F31 is stick with 18s and non RFTs (Goodyear Assym6s in 235/45/18 flavour (winters are Goodyear all-seasons in the same size); the roads local to me here in Preston are horrendous at best; and getting worse...!
That’s an odd one, how does the tailgate twist?! They have a couple of X3Ms in - one in blue that was bloody lovely. £86k though!
Yeah I might go away from RFTs next time. I agree, roads are terrible, Waze just constantly warns me. I’m Preston way too, near longridge
Re the tailgate; not sure but I think one of the powered dampers is at fault; you can see it's not shut flush as it should be on the rear NS but it's making hell of a racket too... Still under warranty; so they can sort it
And Walton le Dale here; my Nan used to live in Grimsargh; Aunt & Uncle still live near to thre White Bull in Alston - small world!
Cuerdale Lane is a road I use a lot; TBH that's not been too bad recently; but the roads literally on my doorstep are absolutely shot, SRBC are doing nothing to fix them, at all!

Took it to the shops where on the way it decided to do the invoice bong thing. Had the beep and was greeted by ABS, DTC and Handbrake warning lights.
Looks like it needs yet another ABS Sensor, hoping it doesn't need any driveshaft work also....
Plugged it into Carly this morning and looks like a bit of a result - the error codes are coming from the front right wheel, where thankfully there are no driveshafts. Looks like it needs yet another ABS Sensor, hoping it doesn't need any driveshaft work also....
My guy can't look at it until Wednesday sadly, however it still drives ok, just get the occasional ABS pulse when braking. I'll leave it on the drive until then though and get back in the crusty old Civic.

Those sensors are pretty easy to chamfer yourself. Just but branded jobbies….the Amazon special I tried in my wife’s old 125i didn’t work.My guy can't look at it until Wednesday sadly, however it still drives ok, just get the occasional ABS pulse when braking. Sadly my drive is on enough of a slope it pushes a 15 year old BMW handbrake to its limit every day, I really don't fancy jacking the car up and making the groaning noises from the back any worse Court_S said:
Didn’t the MOT highlight a worn bush / suspension component? That could well be the culprit if there isn’t excess paint on the mating face of the wheel.
Yes, although I'm not familiar with the mentioned partsFail. Suspension arm pin or bush excessively worn offside rear lower
Moniter. Suspension arm pin or bush excessively worn but not resulting in excessive movement near side rear lower

Not that helpful really, but it’ll at least give the garage an idea of where to look.Fail. Suspension arm pin or bush excessively worn offside rear lower

You could jack the back end up and see if you can detect any play in the rear by getting hold of a wheel and seeing if it wobbles.

I'll leave it to the garage, I wouldn't know what I'm looking for TBH. MUST get in touch with them tomorrow or Monday. We're off for a break to Pembrokeshire on Thursday, so it must be done and re-tested by then.
