I've had my S21U for spot on 3 years (12 month SIM only contract has just come to an end), so now is a opportune time to upgrade. Plus the missus will get my S21U, so she'll be pleased with that.

I already have a Samsung Smart watch (Watch4), so I will keep the Watch6 as I quite like smart watches.

I've found these very good for my S21U, so they might well do one for the S24U:

https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B08PVK25K3

I'd assume they will come with one fitted anyway, so there's no rush to fit a new one from the start (which would be my plan).

They don't come with one fitted...
I would go for a tempered glass one - I have TAURI on mine but it's film rather than glass so feels rubbish
I might be wrong here, but didn't the S21U come with a film type screen protector fitted ? And people peeled them off because they assumed it was just part of the packaging ?

I quite like the film things, but they do start to peel of on mine, but with a flat screen I'd like to hope that will not happen as much.

Sorry, I am wrong there. Looks like S21U did come with a protector, unfortunately they don't come preinstalled these days
I knew Fold did, because I think it's actually part of the screen, so it defiantly should not be removed, but that's a bit poor of Samsung to ship the S21U with one but not the S24U.

Maybe they think their new super-duper glass is so good it does not need one ?

Or not then.

I've had no communication about shipping, and now the Three website says stock is not expected until the 2nf of Feb.

This looks like what I'm after. Even better there's an option for "full" or just "body" protection, so you can use a different screen protector if you prefer. Pre-order until early Feb.

I got mine today and it does seem a shame to cover it really. I shall see what there is on the screen only protection front.

So far I like it a lot.

When I opened it, it felt stone cold (which it was of course), then get gets quite warm to the touch on the sides.

I really do like the square and flat look of my S24U. The missus now has my S21U and it now looks out of the ark to me ! But only a couple of weeks ago it didn't.

Damn. Noones home tomorrow. God knows where's its gonna end up as the email mentions a PIN code to release the delivery too.
DPD will not leave it anywhere, they hand it over and take a picture of someone holding it in your doorway or whatever. But they delivered mine and they did not ask for a PIN (not that I'd received one).

When I got my initial email, it said we are expecting it, then the next day they emailed again to say it was coming that day (plus if you have the DPD app, it will pop up as well).

Setting, search AOD.

Edit lock screen (in the list at the bottom of the screen).

The AOD is now displayed. Tap the clock. Now you can change the style (digital, calendar, analogue etc), pick the font you want, change the colour, and change the size of it and and all sorts of widgets if you want to.

I got an email yesterday saying the watch has now been dispatched. It's being sent by Royal Mail, so Samsung can't attribute much value to them then.

I've just read that all the S24U features are about to be rolled out to the S23U. So the translation and circle to search etc will be now be on those for example.

I would say, compared to my S21U, it's much better. The S21U looks old to me, because it's all curved and black, compared to square and gold/yellow coloured. The quality of display is a step up, and at the time, I thought my S21U was really good.

As for the S-Pen that comes with it; I never use it. I can't see what it gives me.

It's certainly better than the S21U, but I dont know about the S23U.

A worthwhile upgrade from the S21 Ultra then you reckon, how is the battery life in comparison? I didn't notice much difference in speed but I didn't play with it at length, in fairness. The flat display is indeed much more modern looking. Will likely wait until there's some good deals or refurb models with warranties.
Yes, I would say it is. As I say, the quality of the display, especially it bright light, is very noticable.

For the battery life, it seems better, but I can't be certain. Mine tends to sit on it's wireless charger on my desk most of the time, so a full day without being charged is rare. But on the odd occasion when I've been out, my S21U would be down to less that 10% when I got home, my S24U maybe 30% ? But as I say, I can't be certain.

Those AI features have been rolled out in the oneui 6.1 patch
So what that says to me as that all this "S24 now has AI built in" is a load of bks since if you can just upgrade the software on the S23, it must have been in the S23 all along. Or, actually, there are no "special AI" features at all, it's just some very clever software, which you can now run because of teh power of the hardware.

AI is not really AI anyway. It's just a term that is now strapped on to any bit of clever software that needs a lot of processing power.

Some reviewers (who were less worried about upsetting samsung) mentioned this. They weren't pleased about Samsung selling the s24 off the back of its supposed AI, when in reality it's not something truly unique to the s24, but more a marketing hype to shift units at launch which will not only be made available to other models but become chargeable next year..

To be fair, i don't use much of the AI. Even the picture editor struggles to remove items from photos. Often substituting what I'm trying to remove with another object which seems kinda pointless! It doesn't feel like it's fully finished and polished. But it seems this is how the world works with a lot of software now.
I hardly use any of these new feature either. Circle to search is quite good. I used the voice translation and was amazed; but I've no further reason to use it, so I've not used it ever again.

And I've never tried the picture editing thing to remove bits of it.

You could ask why I bothered to buy an S24U? I just like the look of it really.
