Alice Perkins will be interesting too. The next couple of weeks have some of the most senior people.

From wiki

Born in Hampstead, Perkins was privately educated at North London Collegiate School for Girls,[5] an independent school in northeast London, followed by St Anne's College at the University of Oxford,[6] from which she graduated in Modern History in 1971

Perkins was chairman of the Post Office during a critical period of the British Post Office scandal, chairing a Post Office sub-committee, codenamed "Project Sparrow", which in April 2014 decided to sack forensic accountants who had found bugs in the Horizon IT system. This decision was taken with the full knowledge of the government.

Watched the start of Singhs evidence last night - really unbelievable and will enjoy ( if that is the right word) some more tonight.

Having given evidence in a Crown Court case (for the prosecution I hasten to add) the guy would be torn apart I suspect if he ever gets to court.

PCOJ with the evidence of the email data re printing etc.

As another barrister said to another witness "you are either lying or incompetent - which is it?"
I disagree with the barrister, it could be both. hehe

Looking forward to Vennels, I expect it will be more " I don't recall x, y, z, or not my remit, that was somebody else's job" I suppose using the 'I don't want to incriminate myself' answer could make you look guilty of something, especially in the media! Can just imagine the reaction the first time that one's used. Or has somebody tried that one already?

Love the way Jenkins is described as ' former Distinguished Engineer at Fujitsu Services so is he no longer regarded as a 'Distinguished Engineer'? biglaugh
No because he is retired hence former.
Yes, I know. Much prefer my interpretation though.

The guy I feel sorry for is Gareth Jenkins, Solution Director, CTO Fujitsu. Indeed, not the same guy:

To paraphrase Wilde, "To have one solution architect called Gareth Jenkins working for Fujitsu may be regarded as a misfortune; to have two looks like carelessness."

The more I watch this the more I want to see every one of these lying weasels in jail.
Clear cases of PCoJ and even perjury for some of them.

They are lying, the know they are lying, we know they are lying and I'm sure Sir Wyn does. I hope the findings of this enquiry are as scathing as they deserve and start the ball rolling on prosecutions.

The fact that some of the SPMs have not had adequate reparations paid is scandalous. They must have justice.

And once the dust settles on this, Alan Bates deserves a knighthood. He has devoted 20+ years of his life to this and fought every single day.
I think he was already offered or in line for one, but outright refused it.

Or something along those lines.
He was offered an OBE, but refused it whilst Vennells still had her CBE.
smile
He didn't personalise it to Vennells.

That seems threadbare at best, unless it's been minuted in a ministerial briefing or in a letter or email to the minister that's probably a lie.

Apparently a senior civil servant was on the Project Sparrow committee: https://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/home-news/ca...

He was Richard Callard, holding the official role of HMG representative on the Post Office board.

I do hope when Vennels takes the stand, she is reminded that being a woman of the cloth (is that the right term), she is expected to display a higher level of integrity.

She will just claim that she always only did what her god told her to do - plus, of course, managing to readily forget any relevant issues.

What I would really love to happen is for Vennels or whoever, as others have done, start off with a little piece by way of an apology . . . & for Sir Wyn to interject & ask whether this will be another 'Some kind of apology statement'?

Then for Sir Wyn to bluntly & firmly request that this be read out at the very end of their questioning on their last day after they have gloriously displayed all their dirty lies & guilty behaviour for us . . . biggrin

Vennells will open up with an apology for any harm caused, from there on in there will be an assorted bag of I don't recall, we didn't know at the time, that's not my recollection, I was trying to get to the truth, I was advised to, the best advice at the time was, I didn't read that email, I don't recall that meeting, if really cornered she might admit to mistakes but caveat that with I acted in good faith.

She will have been coached to within a inch of her own sanity and will truly believe the BS she'll spout.

Do we know why Nick Wallis' blog hasn't been updated since Thursday (2 May)?

Have I missed something?

Even journalists get time off, perhaps he's had a nice bank holiday break.

He did say last week that he would be quiet for a few days, but I got an update email at 06:30 this morning.

She was a total waste of time today, just making up random nonsense sentences as she went along, pauses between every word as she tried to concoct something believable
