Never had the almighty clunks and bangs which seem to accompany Hollywood lights powering up.
And when the power is cut to an entire neighbourhood or city, the lights seem to go off in stages rather than just all at once. I know there's some basis in that, it just seems to take too long to me, with different parts of the same tower building going out at different times, and always in sequence.
