The London Mayoral election today reminded me of this thread. I guess we'll see how Londoners feel about ULEZ based on the result?
I'm not a Londoner myself and an infrequent visitor by car so I have no strong views either way, but curious what result would be interpreted as a rejection of ULEZ other than outright defeat for Khan. If its an X% drop in support despite winning, what would X be?
The outer boroughs within the ulez still don't get to vote unless it's changed? Looks like he's going to win by a decent margin in both inner and outer boroughsI'm not a Londoner myself and an infrequent visitor by car so I have no strong views either way, but curious what result would be interpreted as a rejection of ULEZ other than outright defeat for Khan. Have some respect and consideration for another's point of view. ULEZ has cost me and my family thousands of pounds in replacement cars.the anti ulez vote is a load of outer london / outside london gammon harping on about freedoms. tiny but vocal tts

The Torys are toxic now due to many reasons. Absolutely no chance London was going to vote for one.

Khans f Ulez scam has cost a disabled friend thousands that he can ill afford and myself thousands to get to go see and help him.
But ulez has saved "potentially" thousands of lives through clean air quality. What price can you put on that?
A main theme of anti ulez was "you have no mandate for this", or "Londoners don't support this".
When Khan gets reelected after thumping the anti ulez candidate, I wonder how long the uncomfortable silence will be on here?
Loads of government policies have cost loads of people lots of money over the years - if people have been able to go and buy a new fleet of cars then I would suggest they probably can afford it.
I recall there's a sizeable chunk of Londoners who don't even have £20 in the bank? Why would they vote to protect the interests of outer London / home counties car owners?

I’d love to see the evidence that ULEZ has saved thousands of lives! If it was that effective surely all cars polluting to level of those charged for entering the ULEZ should be banned from the roads, not allowed to pay and pollute. Good examples of someone who reads the headlines, listens to the soundbites and misses all the context.
Is clean air important to those living, well, everywhere, but specifically in busy urban areas? I think the answer must be yes. Even in my nearest city there are two areas that physically stink, absolutely reek, and it's a tiny city in comparison to these sprawling conurbations Gassing Station | News, Politics & Economics | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
