Agreed - but deviation can occur if you start discussing the surrounding politics.

Always think of Nicholas Parsons.
You don't own it you know Eric.
Always think of Leslie Gore.
has he died ?

getmecoat

Sadly, she has - so completely on topic.

Same for Nicholas Parsons.

And both were "notable" too.

It speaks to the quality of the performance, as well as the writing. We were watching his tragic breakdown, but still able to make us laugh.

Ooh thread police have turned up hehe

Imagine having the nerve to discuss the work of someone who is mentioned in the thread?
Indeed, but it seems he's remembered for one part, Hill was a jobbing actor, his portrayal of Yosser
was a few weeks work, his personal politics are unknown, but to the extreme left
Yosser is still a icon of the doomed working class.

All is a mere sideshow to his most grevious act, I still hold him
to book for deliberately speeding in a known iceberg region.

Absolutely - and that awareness saved a lot of lives. An inspiring person for both of my daughters.

I have on VHS somewhere a programme from the BBC which was aired in December 1985 on the 54th Anniversary of John Lennon's death. It was a semi dramatised biography of Lennon using , for the time, advanced computer graphics to place the actors into paintings, drawing or other artwork. They used the same techniques in a children's programme around the same time called "The Box of Delights".

The relevance is that Bernard Hill played Lennon in his post Sgt Pepper's era look.

He's in the BBC drama "The Responder" that is currently being shown. Must be the last TV job that he done.

I'd forgotten Bernard played Lennon in the 1974 musical John, Paul, George, Ringo...and Bert.

Anthony Sher was Ringo, and gave Barbara Dickson her first big singing role.
