Classic (old, retro) cars for sale £0-5k vol 2
Discussion
You are right the Volvo's are looking cool. For the first time in my life I may actually need one as my current cars are both two seaters.
It would be useful to have one on the drive to throw a bike in and other generally large stuff.
How practical is it to spend say £3k on one, are these money pits, maintenance, insurance and road tax wise?

Volvos have very much become cool "in hindsight". They were never cool at the time, save the T5/R estates which were a triumph of marketing.
I always thought Saabs were cooler.
As with many old cars, I like the boxy shape now because it stands outI always thought Saabs were cooler.
Really tempted by rge silver estate but I've just bought 2 cars and a bike so need to sell something

Yes they were the very antithesis of cool, it wasn't for nothing that Ian Beale always had a Volvo Estate I always thought Saabs were cooler.
Also agree re the T5/R versions. I've owned a few and they're fine if you've never driven an actually good performance car, but they're in no way deserving of the image they seem to have acquired.

Very cool. They look at their crisp best in early, low-spec guise.W00DY said:

This one is for sale on Facebook marketplace too (its not far from where I live on the South Coast). As the ad says, it was the cover car on Classic Cars not long ago and tbh if you want a Satira GTI looks like about as good as you are likely to get. Hence in the current market place that for me is a well priced car, if you want a Proton GTI, that is. These had very good reviews when they came out in Autocar and EVO..... The unloved Mk3 Golf looking more and more appealing... I posted a lovely (but ten grand) VR6 in the other thread a month or so back, but this one spotted at my local tonight definitely deserves a share here. 16v far more 'GTI' like than either the 8v or the VR6 supposedly. I dont need a car at all. But I'm tempted. Very usable modern classic. It was in cracking 'used but not abused' condition, looked to need some brakes and tyres and a machine polish thats all. Interior looked great.

Oh bloody hell, I don’t need that but I would like it a lot. Please tell me it’s in the arse-end of Cornwall so I’m less tempted.
