Who else is getting their Summer cars out?
Discussion
This bank holiday weekend has been the first time that I have really had the opportunity to use the Griff this year.
It has been at a specialist having its outriggers and wishbones replaced and fitted with polybushes. Collected it at 17.00 on Friday, first stop was to put some fuel in, then look it home for a good clean before Donington on Saturday. The colour hides the road grime well, but the silver wheels do show the filth.

Got my MX5 out after it's longest hibernation to date, 8 months. According to the internet I didn't do most of the things I should have in preparation for the lay up or the re awakening. The only things I did was leave the battery in the car on a trickle charger and the handbrake off. I was gong to over inflate the tyres and roll the car six inches forward and backward every 4 weeks to stop the flat spots, but i got lazy and didn't even do that, didn't brim the tank (1/4 full) or put fuel stabiliser in either. Came to start it and the key fob battery was flat so replaced that.
After reading another post about giving the electrics time to wake up before trying to start it I did that then hit the starter and it started first time just as though it had been driven the previous day, no odd noises or smoke, settled into a stable idle, very impressed. Let it idle up to temp then drove it 10 miles on the "stale" fuel with no stuttering, hesitation or other issues, brimmed it with Tesco 99 and another 40 miles and all was OK.
As I type I can hear distant rumbles of thunder, FFS, where is the summer?

Great seeing the posts saying people were getting cars out. Even better seeing them out and about now the weather is better.
I went for a little run for fish and chips with the Mrs last week. I went Matlock/ Ashbourne yesterday. Probably a mistake as Matlock was a traffic jam. Saw a few nice cars out.

You really can’t rationalise owning a toy car
Does a Swedish glass objet d'art automobile with a passing resemblance to a Volvo PV count as a a 'toy car'? If so I can justify ownership as it looks nice sitting on top of my chest of drawers with its compatriot companions, a glass troll and a glass mobile 'phone (Ericsson promotional piece from a very long time ago). keo said:

Nice Exige Keo, you joined our What’s App group last night… I went for a little run for fish and chips with the Mrs last week. I went Matlock/ Ashbourne yesterday. Probably a mistake as Matlock was a traffic jam. Saw a few nice cars out.
Three days, good weather - no excuses.
Sunday; oil and coolant checks, trickle charger off, de-isolate, 10s of fuel pump whir and a couple of pumps of the throttle... Nothing... Crank with no throttle this time and it catches; cunningly sized bit of 2x4 inserted to leave running up to 70° whilst I do the tires (must get new tires, these ones are 1980.)
Yesterday - run out to a NT place about 45min away. No beats missed, tracks well at 60mph, brakes *really* well for a 88yo car (that'll be the asbestos...)
Considering the grief some folk have with cars from the 1990s!
