Lovely pair you've got there! My Dad had a E reg metallic blue 1.6i Ghia which for some reason was one of my favourites of all his cars.

That Rosso Red looks fantastic now its had a polish! I prefer the RS alloys to the steels though boxedin

The driveway looks right out of 1980s suburbia now! Has anyone reached out to you for period filming?

Thanks for the replies guys. I'll might keep the RS alloys, but I'll fit the wheel trims as I want to get it looking as it would of done from the showroom.

I'll post some pics as soon as the rear bumpers back on as I'm hoping to get to a show over the bank holiday.

Just to reinforce this, the lines of the Mark I look so sharp and much crisper than the Mark II. Same applies to the Golf GTi, we all know objectively the Mark11 is a far better car, just the Mark I is much more appealing, or maybe it’s just me.
I agree, the Mk1 just looks better to me. I also prefer the interior and seats in the Mk1, it just feels a bit more upmarket (if an 80s Ford can feel upmarket!) than the Mk2.

Well I got the rear bumper back on after its repair, just need to fit the red insert to it now.

Took it to its first car show today, around a 50 mile round trip so getting more confident in its reliability now. I was amazed to see another mk1 Injection there, was great to see it.

The colour is Jade Green apparently, must be super rare now.

Actually it's good to see 2 out and about - I can't remember the last time I saw one.

Few more bits done to the Orion over the last few days. I got round to fitting the original wheels and trims, a lot of people have said keep the RS alloys, but I'm a stickler for original, so here they are!

I also fitted the new red insert to the recently repaired bumper. It's starting to look like I want it now, just a small repair to the front bumper and the small bits of bodywork to sort now.

Your car is looking great and i think the Mk 1 really suits the original wheels.

I recall a friend of my parents collecting a brand new Mk 2 on 1st August 1986 which was maroon in colour with white wheel covers. It was an acquired taste but he obviously didn't want to pay the extra cost for the alloy wheels.
