Ive had a look and there are some really tempting Cat X vehicles for the price.

No sports cars but at the moment two Kias are on there for 12 and 8k, minor damage fixable by smart repair.

Will they have warranty still as well?
Why not, its with the manufacturer isnt it. Guess a quick call to a dealer "might" give the answer. I have seen over the last few weeks several very nice X cats with very little "damage" at all. As others have said, a brave pill to buy one but maybe a good gamble???

Really interested in this thread!

The Maser looks lovely, best of luck with it.

With regards to Copart, as another poster said their description of runs and drives is very loose.
I'm visit Copart regularly collecting scrap and some of the "runs and drives" I've had are a right mess.
Fork drivers are mostly very helpful in my experience. Big 10 ton JCBs so they can lift most things.
Lifted this rather bent S-Max on for me last week no problem.

I can already tell getting parts for these cars might be a problem. Most are on “Special Order” rather than stock.

Gave Maserati a call on Friday (why not?) to get a quote for a few parts “we will call you back in 5 minutes”… tumbleweed still waiting for that call.

Not like bmw parts department then…!biglaugh

Luckily there seems to be other outlets which seem more helpful and have a good selection of used parts, shall get my first quote this evening.

Kia don’t recommend you changing a tyre on my eniro due to the risk of puncturing the battery. The battery hangs below the sills. Do they just forklift EVs too? Seems a high risk!

Have you tried Maranello Classic Parts? They were great for my Italian exotic*.

* - Fiat Coupe, there were some seals that were shared with Ferrari that were cheaper to get from them than on ebay specifically for the Coupe for some reason

This is the biggest issue with these cars (I own a Gransport Spyder).
A lot of parts are 'on backorder' or 'special order' or whatever it is called, meaning they're either hard to find or very expensive.
IMHO, this is the main reason these aren't commanding a higher price on the market - if Maserati could be bothered to get their act together, the increased attraction of their older models and the subsequent impact on values might even help the with their current model...

Still, currently they offer an insane amount of car/fun/passion for the money they can be bought for.

Managed to find a brand new US-spec bumper for xenon-fitted cars (with the holes for the headlight washers) from an outlet in California.

Might get the side reflectors too as this is the only difference to EU-spec cars. I think I would prefer that than filling the hole and risking future cracks etc, what are your thoughts?

Have you considered getting the bumper repaired?

I did, I’ve contacted a company but I’m still waiting for feedback. Have a feeling it’s too damaged to be repaired, but might be worth a try!

A couple of bodyshops specialised in plastic bumper welding/repairs have stated the bumper is beyond repair.

These bumpers are rare, called numerous italian (ferrari/maserati) parts specialists in UK, USA, The Netherlands and Italy and they pretty much wished me good luckbiglaugh

I managed to find one in Poland (online platform ovoko.pl) and have pulled the trigger: £1940 they dont deliver to the UK but I have family in Poland who will then forward it.

Might still be able to sell my gransport front spoiler which looks to be alright from the photos to offset the cost of the new bumper.

The car is not here yet, might only come next week…

Not far off a brand new one, if there was one available! But yes, quite expensive. I "budgeted" 4k for cosmetic repairs.

Hoping to get it done on time to take it to the 24H of Le Mans this year!!

That’s an expensive bumper, but there’s not much else you can do if they’re not actually available elsewhere. Hopefully there won’t be too many more parts like that to bite you.

The tale of the front bumper probably explains why the insurer wrote the car off, policyholder in a similar hire car at an eye watering cost.....but it does seem odd that parts supply is so poor, must be an opening for an enterprising Polish gent there, somewhere!

If the Maserati was circa £9.4k, and a bumper is £2k/tricky to find, is there not a greater value in these for slowly breaking and selling parts? (Assuming you don't want to repair the car for yourself?)
