Now that is a surprise!

In better news, Assen has signed a deal until 2031. As a round that isn't politically important with Manufacturers in the way SE Asia, Italy, Austria and the USA would be, it's one that would potentially be vulnerable to new trends. Holland doesn't at the minute have an anchor rider for it either the way France might with Fabio.

However, it produces great racing, gets huge crowds, and there don't seem to have been any issues with the runoff etc anywhere. I'm glad to see it stay.

Did well during COVID when development was static with fewer engineers going to and from rounds. Once development started up again he started to go backwards, and didn't cope well with being moved from the environment at Petronas to Factory Yamaha when Maverick Vinales was fired.

Also, he ruptured his anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) in his knee in training and had surgery. Your ACL provides stability across the knee joint and although it's usually repaired with a hamstring graft. You don't always get the same amount of stability back - I didn't in mine and my surgeon also had the contract to do players at Chelsea for an example. It is possible he has lost some strength on that side when at full lean and is being held up accordingly.

That is good news.
I'm still gutted they don't go to Brno anymore. We went over and saw Cal win a good few years back now, was brilliant.

Me too, I'd have loved to have gone there. Geographically and in the calendar too close to Sachsenring and the Red Bull Ring. However the owner (Karel Abraham's Dad?) wouldn't spend the money upgrading the surface. If Sachsenring was earlier in the year it might have survived - or if MotoGP moves away from eastern Germany. There have been rumours that the Nurburgring (south circuit, not the big green hell) are going to bid for it.

Brno has been earmarked for housing development, it won't be with us much longer. Great circuit for a euro trackday trip with No Limits though ...

It was fantastic when we went, great food, drink, people were lovely .. shuttle buses from Brno centre to the track all weekend. Great circuit to spectate from with loads of bankings you could choose from. I suppose it would've been difficult in recent times to commit to investing in the circuit but looking at how things have turned around, how many spectators there were at Jerez last weekend for example, feels like a short sighted decision. What a shame.

Not as many as they stated, they added an extra 100,000 that weren't there.

He started off really good then has gone to st over the following years.
He's really only had one good year in 2020.

2018 - 15th (rookie on that POS Marc VDS Honda so you can maybe forgive that)
2019 - 10th
2020 - 2nd
2021 - 17th
2022 - 19th
2023 - 13th
2024 - After four races he's currently 20th with a grand total of 6 points

New regs are out for 2027. No more ride height device or hole shot being one of the bigger ones.

With the reduction in engine capacity and the changes in bore sizes, are we likely to see teams choose a different engine configuration? Or will the V4 still be favourite amongst most manufacturers?

A way of letting teams know where the other riders are so they can go out into some empty track, or avoid known tailgaters?

2027 rules are a step in the right direction, but I share a couple of Stoners concerns.

Lighter bikes, less stopping distance, less overtaking

Corner speeds going up again I’d guess, not sure of aero impact here

Peaky engines like the 800’s on new fuel/lower capacity/lower volumes

Great news holeshot/ride heights devices are going and reduced aero (particularly noted to improve show)

Any change is going to be a massive debate, some time to wait to see the outcomes

Daft on the engine rules

should have rev limited the 1000s and decreased bore size to more create torquey less top endy engines.

Road relevant, yeh right. biglaugh

So if you cockup your aero you are buggered for the season.

Shared GPS data just means the teams with more resources have more people and computers churning through the data.

They never learn, always the same committee based nonsense.

I don't really see the benefit in the engine regs changing. Just get rid of the shape shifting and excessive aero.
