The classic Guards Red paintwork looks brilliant on the 968, perfectly offset by the black Cup alloys and decals along both sides. As 1 of only 179 genuine UK Clubs Sports this particular example is a rare car indeed. The body retains a deep, glossy shine with relatively few imperfections to report on close inspection, the most conspicuous being a dusting of chips low down towards the rear arches. The front fog lamps have also been removed to aid brake cooling but could easily be replaced should the new keeper desire.
Upon entry you’re greeted by lightweight Recaro bucket seats finished in Guards Red, both in excellent condition. The dash, leather gear knob, and centre console are all unmarked and the steering wheel is in very good order. In the footwells you’ll find tailored Porsche overmats and at the rear you’re presented with an impeccably clean boot space complete with the original luggage net and privacy cover. Although an aftermarket radio head unit is fitted in the dash, no additional speakers have even been installed and so the rear shelf is without any holes or damage.
ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION
Praised for its superior handling the 968 Club Sport was named ‘Performance Car of the Year’ in 1993 soon after its launch. Under the bonnet you’ll find the 4-cylinder 3-litre engine, with power transferred to the rear wheels via a smooth 6-speed gearbox. The engine bay of this example is remarkably clean and tidy with no damage or signs of poor repair to be found. Better still, the car boasts the most amazing maintenance record with no less than 23 stamps in the original service booklet. The most recent service was carried out in May 2019 at the current mileage of 79k.
WHEELS, TYRES AND BRAKES
The unmarked Cup alloys have recently been refurbished in gloss black, which is particularly striking against the black Club Sport livery. The wheels are shod in a matching set of Yokohamas, all of which have plenty of tread remaining. The brakes are also in fine order and the front pads and fluid were replaced during the last service.
This example comes with a full and comprehensive history. The History File includes the original service book that has 23 stamps from only Porsche main dealers and specialists. This is further backed up with a file of invoices dating back to the late ‘90s and almost every MOT certificate from new. The last service was done in May 2019 and included the brake fluid. The most recent timing belt and tensioner change was carried out in March 2018. The complete service history is detailed below.
