911 SC - BACKDATE/RESTOMOD/HOTROD NEW BUILD
Here we have this beautiful 911 aircooled 1983 SC - The bosses car!
Bought 3.5 years ago with the intention of doing a "quick" backdate and respray and they use it for a year or two...How wrong was that?
What then happened is 3 years were spent having the paint done, the car built back up and essentially turning into a mini restoration.
the base car was chosen well with this rust free example sourced from a private owner in London. Aware of the rampant clocking that goes on with these cars and he base car was bought on condition and ended up with a perfect base car. Previouslt the car was in daily use and critically had no rot. The kidney bowls had been done previously but there was no rot on the shell or wings etc. It stood out among a lot of "80k" sheds that had rotten wings and clearly forged history at the time of looking. The clocks on this one sit proudly at 204k very honest andi in reality most cars of this vintage have similar real miles. It can be viewed on a lift it is close to perfect underneath/behind the bumpers and the wings inside and out. We did NO welding on this car! We have lots of pics including of underneath.
So with the car purchased it was used for about 3 months and then put it in for the paint doing. Being a bit of a long term job and been busy with work 2 years seemed to slip by and then around the last 8 months it has been built up and had a bit of a mini resto with new carpets/seals and all of the little niggles sorted (little things like the wash wipers not working etc have all been worked through and cleared up.
To summarise the spec of a car:
1983 SC 2.0 200 BHP base model HPI and fully accident damage free.
Impact bumpers removed and RS style ducktail/bumpers added
Cobra bucket seats with body colour shells
Rear show cage
Rear seats and belts retained
OEM Fuchs wheels with turbo sizes so 8s and 9s (rear wheels were brand new costing 3k)
SSI Heat exchangers all replaced recently
All consumables in perfect order tyres/discs/brakes
Long bonnet conversion with wing extensions and light conversion
Prototipo steering wheel
Gearbox was refurbished prior to my purchase (not G50!)
Torsion beam on rear effectively refurbished as part of the lowering process.
Carbon style doorcards with pull straps
Full quality repaint in Porsche Mexico blue (not a blow over this although not a bare metal job was glass out and ran to well over 5k) Lower stone chip all removed and reapplied and the underside sealed.
The car is fully back on the road it went straight through it's MOT with no advisories. The steering is pin sharp and any issues that have arisen have been dealt with.
Mechanical wise everything is stock this is the point at which we stopped with the project for now. The engine starts and runs and performs very well it has never consumed oil at all in the time we have owned it. There is no evidence in the history of a rebuild but at this mileage it must have been done at least once. The car doesn't have loads of paperwork but we do have the original service book and some bits of invoices.
In addition the car has just come back from esteemed Porsche specialist Lee Mayor Restorations where it was lowered and had a service and check over to fully prepare for sale.
The car is ideal to just continue using at the moment or go to the next step and go for the engine replacement/rebuild to top hotrod spec. 300BHP would be very interesting in this!
PX Considered we can certainly take any modern Lotus but ideally looking for a 991 GT3 and could PX accordingly. Other cars will be considered at trade rates.
Strictly offered as a private sale the car has been privately owned and registered by our MD for almost 4 years.
