1965 Ford Falcon
This car can be viewed in person from 14th to 18th July 2020 at our the auction site, Windsorview Lakes, Datchet, SL3 9HY
The Ford Falcon was introduced in 1960 and outsold its rival compacts from Chrysler and General Motors. It was powered by a small, lightweight 90hp straight-six engine and recorded over half a million sold in the first year and over a million sold by the end of the second year. The year 1961 saw two new models introduced. The second generation was launched in 1963 and featured revised more squared-off styling and in 1964 Ford added a Sprint package which gave it the 260ci, 4.3 litre V8 engine from the Ford Fairlane and stiffer suspension but it did not catch on as it was overshadowed by the new model, the Mustang. In late 1964 to bring Falcon sales back up the V8 engine was changed to the 289ci, 4.7 litre unit. In late 1965 the second-generation Falcon was replaced with the redesigned third generation based on a shortened Ford Fairlane platform with revised styling.
This stunning 1965 Ford Falcon, two door coupé, is fitted with a ‘crisp sounding’ 289ci V8 engine, this is married to a four speed manual gearbox with a Hurst gear shift. The car was imported to the UK from the USA seven years ago by the current owner, who is a partner at a well-known Ferrari specialist based just outside London. He has fully maintained the car and has used it to travel to Le Mans in France twice and last year parked in the Pre 65 car park at the Goodwood Revival, all without any issues. Finished in blue with blue interior, this excellent second-generation Falcon is supplied with a V5 registration document and an MoT test certificate which expires in June 2021. Fitted with the original radio plus a new Bluetooth stereo system and a new heater box means any new owner can cruise to events in American style and comfort.
