TVR Cerbera 4.5 "Light Weight" AJP V8 - Huge history file.
Now reduced to £27,990, was £29,990.
Here at Quick and Big Ltd we are delighted to offer for sale, TVR’s biggest hitter, the Mark 2 TVR Cerbera 4.5 Light Weight. Presented here with a file full of invoices and a service book with 16 main dealer and brand specialist stamps.
We, like many other small businesses are trying hard to maintain “business as usual”, and be of service to our customers during these unprecedented times. Whilst being very mindful of both our and our customers safety. As such, at our rural location we are able to offer viewings (in a socially distanced way), we can also provide “sanitised” delivery services.
The iconic TVR Cerbera doesn’t really need any introduction, built as a light weight 2+2 to teach the Super Car establishment a performance lesson or two! From an era when TVR had the ambition and audacity to develop its own race / road car engine, the AJP V8 (Speed 8), which went on prove it’s self on track in the TVR’s Tuscan race series.
The external styling still looks contemporary today, and the interior still looks futuristic over 20 years on. Interior space is remarkably practical, loads of space for long legged drivers, rear seats for at least the kids, and a huge boot.
The Cerbera was available with three engine options, 4.0 Speed 6, and two AJP race engine derived V8’s, the 4.2 litre (360 bhp / 490 Nm) and the head line grabbing 4.5 litre (420bhp / 515 Nm) as seen here. The 4.5 litre Cerbera can crack 0-60 mph in 3.9 seconds, 0-100 mph in 8.3 seconds and go on to 195mph.
Some of my favourite Top Gear / Clarkson motoring memories are seeing a 4.2 litre Cerbera destroy the established Super Car hierarchy in a drag race. Take a minute to check it out on You Tube.
Here at Quick and Big we love the Peter Wheeler era TVR’s, full of confidence, swagger, not just loud but able to back it up, no driver aids, proper single minded “Bull Dog Spirit” British sports car’s.
When we were younger we desperately wanted one, but couldn’t afford it! They are now accessible and affordable, but for how long? Try and find a contemporary Super Car from Germany or Italy at this price. Prices are on the rise!
The Cerbera was only available from 1996 – 2004. In 2000 benefiting from a face lift, the Mark 2 cars (as ours) benefiting from Tuscan style rear light clusters, Tuscan style bi xenon head lights, redesigned A pillars, roof line and seats. On the 4.5 lighter weight bonnet, doors, and boot lid were also introduced.
There are many reasons that all TVR’s are appreciating in value, exclusivity (after all the original company sadly ceased trading over 10 years ago), the fact that once they are 25 years old they can be exported to the U.S. and with the hype around the long awaited launch of the new TVR Griffith.
HPI clear, 4.5 examples are very rare, we believe ours is only one of a couple of 4.5’s on the UK market at the moment. According to “how many left”, there are only 75 Cerbera’s from 2000 left (40 on the road, the rest Sorn’d), and of them less than 20 are 4.5’s.
V748 DBR is a real credit to its former keepers, being first registered on 01/01/2000, having latterly been enthusiast owned as part of a private car collection. It will be of interest to enthusiasts, collectors and investors.
Our Cerbera is presented in Formula Red Pearl, with Cream and Cranberry hide interior. Our high spec example is equipped with over £3000 worth of factory extras (including air conditioning), and cost over £50k back in 2000, it was still half the price of anything that could even come close in a drag race!
It comes with a comprehensive A4 folder, of receipts / invoices for much routine maintenance from TVR main dealers and brand specialists, over £9,000 spent in the last 5000 miles, and over £23,000 since 2006. Amongst the numerous receipts are for a recent valve clearance check and adjustment and new AP Racing clutch.
Just in case the Cerbera is not loud enough already, ours comes with a sports exhaust (switchable from the dash to maximum pops, bangs and crackles mode) and, if you really want to wake the dead, it also has a pair of cat delete pipes (not fitted). There are receipts for regular Wax Oil treatments, the underside is in remarkable condition.
The huge history file has almost every MOT, lots of old tax discs and its original Owners Manual / Service Book complete with 16 stamped service records, it was most recently serviced in Nov 19, less than a thousand miles ago (full service £1250) at brand specialist Taylor TVR Ltd.
Our Mark 2 Cerbera 4.5, has travelled 68400 miles (an average of less than 3500 per year), which is backed up by its copious service / maintenance receipts and of course the comprehensive MOT records.
The 4.5’s most recent MOT does not expire until 6/11/20, and was passed with no advisories. We will put a fresh MOT on it for its new lucky owner. The Cerbera comes with Team Dynamics Motorsport alloys (fill the arches nicely) shod with recent Toyo Proxos 255/35/18 (rear) and 225/35/18 (front).
The modern classic Cerbera comes with 1 master key and immobiliser chip and 2 working remote fobs, and a modern Pioneer head unit with Bluetooth, if it was me, I’d leave my phone and the stereo turned off!
Our classic Super Car is of course HPI clear and a full HPI report will be available to potential purchasers.
Many thanks for wading through our lengthy description, we believe it’s better to describe our cars fully. It is not in our interest to waste your time or ours with inaccurate descriptions. It does of course have the odd age related imperfection (which used car doesn’t), but for its age it really is excellent. A real petrol heads Super Car, whose values can only go one way in the future!
This TVR Cerbera 4.5 Light Weight, really does tick all the Quick and Big boxes, being great value, very quick, well presented, fantastically maintained, very rare, and already starting to appreciate in value.
Don’t kick yourself in 10 years’ time that you didn’t buy it! I know the big Cerbera is a bucket list car for many Petrol Heads, they rarely become available, now is your chance!
Please visit the photographs again (there are many more online at Quick and Big) and our terms and conditions (also online at Quick and Big) as they form part of the description, and contact us via Piston Heads or by calling Peter 07860691960, to arrange a viewing / test drive by appointment. Any inspection is welcomed. Part exchange particularly if its quick, big or interesting is a pleasure.
