PORSCHE 911 (996) CARRERA 1997
Up for sale is my much loved and cherished manual Dec 1997 996 Carrera 2. The car is equipped with MO30 suspension, 18" Technology hollow spoke wheels, traction control with LSD, Sunroof, on board computer, electric drivers seat with memory function, Porsche hi-fi system with amp and 6-CD changer, rear wiper and green top tinted windscreen.
Arctic silver paintwork complimented by metropole blue leather interior, 3 spoke steering wheel, front door air bags, original Porsche mat set and a pair of vent mounted cup holders. There's paperwork and a couple of fobs present for a Vehicle Tracking device, but this is not currently activated.
As it’s an early production model it has the sought after cable throttle and more robust dual row IMS bearing.
Currently wearing my 911 private plate which will be removed prior to sale and the original registration mark R***MGK reinstated.
I acquired the car privately in May 2015 with 91,000 miles on the clock from the 8th registered keeper who bought the car from Uber GT.
A stamped service book supported by every receipt for works carried out (£20K worth) mainly by Paragon, plus a few other well-regarded Porsche specialists, and latterly a local garage, were present up to 2010 and 82,858 miles with brake, suspension, radiators and air con condenser replacement works amongst the final jobs completed. The current owner had replaced the rear discs and pads for the Nov 2014 MOT and fitted a new battery and a window regulator at the same time.

Having considered the time/mileage between the last documented service (the last owner having serviced the car himself) the pre purchase inspection conducted by my dad (aircraft engineer) and the test drive, we negotiated a price and secured the purchase of my first 911.

The car is MOT’d but a new one can be arranged prior to purchase, with copies of every previous test certificate also available. Recent set of Bosch wipers and a Bosch S5008 Battery fitted, a vario cam solenoid seal, rear off side hub plus wheel bearing, boot lid gas strut, and a new left front dash top speaker. There's an additional cubby space under the CR21 stereo head unit at the moment but the original cassette storage trays are also available.
The ruffled leather seats have been cleaned and conditioned using various LTT leather care products, the interior looks and smells fantastic, despite this car coming from the last century. Just a couple of small marks evident to the bottom of the seat backs. Everything works, the sun visor vanity mirrors illuminate and open (and stay open) and close. No issues either with the hinges on storage bins located in the doors or the centre console.
This is the 4th vehicle in our family fleet and only gets used for pure recreational drives. I have covered approx. 3,000 sunny miles per year since May 15, with no commuting, town work, or any short trips. The car has always been fuelled with Shell V Power and warmed up properly before any spirited driving.
During my ownership, and guided by Dean from D&G, I have focussed on the mechanical elements of the car as opposed to enhancing the aesthetics, apart from the wheel refurb. Therefore, there are some stone chips to the front PU and one or two very minor imperfections to the paintwork, but these are commensurate for a 22 year old vehicle having covered just over 100k miles. However, the car is washed and returned to the garage after every drive, with regular waxing and Gtechniq finishing. The car is garaged and SORN’d at the end of October, placed under its cover and fitted with a battery conditioner every winter.
I believe this car delivers as good a driving experience as can be had from any car costing under £20,000, something I am happy to demonstrate to any prospective buyer.
Any inspection/PPI report welcome. Car is located in Northumberland, approx. 8 miles from Newcastle airport.
No part exchange thanks. I'll happily take you for a test drive as a passenger unless you can provide evidence of fully comprehensive insurance. Any questions please drop me a message. Thanks Steve
