Seat Leon Cupra R 580BHP Competition Car
A successful competition car that I have used for sprinting and hill climb, but is ready for circuit racing if you wish or just as an amazing track day weapon.
It is difficult to know where to start with this car as so much has been spent to turn it into an incredibly fast, well equipped, and well set up race/track car.
Starting life as a 1781cc Cupra R, TSR Performance in Somerset were instructed by a previous owner to develop the car into a top rate track day car and to get as close to 600bhp as possible. Cost was no object!
They achieved 580bhp on the Dyno with printout to prove.
This was achieved after fitting the following: -
ZRP 2.0 Steel crank
Performance Engine Bearings
ARP Head Stud and Main Stud Kits
K9388D Wossner Piston Kit
Supertech Valve Kit
High Flow Fuel Rail
Head Flowing and Porting
Garret GTX3576 Turbo
Pro Alloy Intercooler
Supertech Valve Kit
034 Motorsport Inlet Manifold Kit
830CC Injector Set
Hemi Throttle Body
Sachs Clutch and Fidanza Flywheel
Vibra Technics Engine Mounts
Full Set of Silicone Hoses
Quaife 02M LSD 2WD
Custom Remap by TSR
KW Clubsport Coilovers
Full welded OMP Rollcage
4 Bar Fuel Pressure Regulator
Oil Pressure and Temp. Gauges
Upgraded Oil and Fuel Pumps
Forge Dump Valve
Innovate Boost Controller
Six Speed Short Shift Gear Linkage
Top and Bottom Strut Braces.
This car keeps up with Aerial Atoms on the racetrack!!
About the car itself, It has done just 60,000 miles and has been kept road legal as I need to drive to events and drive home again (hopefully) hence the heater matrix and fans are still in the car (to demist on a cold damp morning) however these can be removed quite easily if you intend to trailer the car. It has already been lightened to the extreme by removing metal wherever possible. The driver’s door still has it’s inner frame, but all of the others are door skins only. The door mirrors are lightweight replacements as are all the windows (except windscreen) which are a full set of ‘plastics4performance’ Lexan Polycarbonate with slider kit and air scoop. The front windscreen has recently been replaced to get rid of all the stone chips.
After purchasing the car, I made various adjustments and modifications to make the final conversion to a race car that would pass scrutineering. The 6-point TRS harnesses were fitted (second set now fitted since photos). Odyssey Extreme PC545 lightweight racing battery securely fitted in-board. Bespoke exhaust system fitted just prior to my purchase is ideal for competitions and runs at about 95db. The Corbeau seats are in excellent order and although I only ran with the driver’s seat fitted, I have now replaced the passenger seat to allow me to take anybody on a test run (me driving only). The dashboard has been renovated very recently to accommodate all the new dials plus a cut-off switch.
It is now running on Proxes R888R road legal semi slicks fitted to Team Dynamics Pro Race 1.2 Wheels plus spacers and all held on by a stud conversion kit. Ferodo FCP1348R racing pads are fitted with Tarox vented discs.
The body work is in good order, never having had a crash, but expect a few marks. The most noticeable thing is that the bonnet is still a strong yellow whereas the rest of the paintwork, although shiny, has faded. If you are looking for a car to win a Concours event this is not it.
Although it is running on an extended (Covid ) MOT it will come with a new 12 month MOT for the new owner.
Available by separate negotiation are another set of Team Dynamics wheels (could do with refurbishing) fitted with near brand new (100 miles) set of Michelin Pilot Sport 4.
I think I have covered everything, but please let me know if you need more information.
