EXTERIOR
Based on a factory Riviera Blue 993 Carrera 2, this RS Clubsport evocation certainly stands out from the crowd. The iconic Porsche colour and RS body styling perfectly enhances the elegant proportions of the standard 993 shape, and with its RS bumpers and huge rear wing providing a zealous edge over the original Carrera silhouette.
Finish is superb; free from any blemishes or scuffs the vibrant blue finish has a brilliant even gloss across its surface, capturing the RS details, like the front winged spoiler and top mounted rear intakes, in a flawless fashion. Trim and lights also present well, having covered less than 2,000 miles since a comprehensive rebuild, they are free from any chips or fading throughout.
INTERIOR
In true RS fashion the interior of this 993 has been stripped out, clearly fabricated to be a more focused road going racer. The standard seats have been replaced with a pair of Recaro SPG buckets whilst the ‘heavy’ leather door-cards have been switched out with RS carbon fibre alternatives. A Heigo rear roll cage, Momo Prototipo steering wheel and radio delete complete the interior weight loss regime and add to the race car feel of the 993.
Thankfully some essentials have remained; with a functioning sunroof and air conditioning making sure the car is comfortable to use all year round. Carpets also remain in place to provide some soundproofing on the move, a good compromise of some usability.
ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
The 3.6 litre is a perfectly elastic powertrain at both ends of the rev range and tractability is at the core of what makes the 993 so user-friendly. Starting the flat-six, it is turbine-smooth and surprisingly quiet at idle but push on the floor-hinged throttle a little further and the familiar hollow air-cooled bark murmurs satisfyingly around the cabin, enhanced further by the Cargraphic Full Exhaust System which allows the air-cooled unit to breathe more freely.
Additional modifications give the RS Evocation a real driver focused edge; with a limited slip differential and short ratio 6-speed manual gearbox the car is incredibly engaging on the road, allowing the driver to squeeze every last drop of power of of the 3.6 litre unit.
WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES
Sitting snugly in the flared arches, 18″ RS Speedline style split rims complete the RS aesthetic, sitting in excellent condition free from any signs of curbing or corrosion. Matching Avon ZZ1’s provide good grip and sit with excellent tread at each corner.
Red RS Calipers show brightly through the spokes and function brilliantly, supplied by Porsche in 2013 they have covered less than 2000 miles since installation. Suspension has also been massively upgraded; Bilstein PSS9 Suspension with full Poly Bushing and Monoball top mounts provides a firmer ride with far sharper handling suitable for road and track application.
HISTORY FILE
This exceptional 993 Carrera 2 was supplied new by Porsche (AFN) Chiswick on 17/03/1995 who also performed the first 2 services on the car as shown by the original stamped service book. There are a further 6 stamps in the service book and a number of invoices outlining regular servicing of the car, including a full gearbox rebuild and limited slip diff install in 2006 at just over 80k miles.
MOT History shows the car covered regular mileage until it was purchased in 2011 by an owner who wanted a solid base for an RS Evocation. The owner spent the next 3 years converting the car, with a huge log of invoices tracking parts, maintenance and upgrades fitted to the car over this period. Works include a new clutch, full suspension upgrade, Cargraphic full exhaust system, lightweight interior fitment, RS Bodykit installation and much more. Since then the car has been used very sparingly and has covered less than 2,000 miles since all the work was completed.
The stamped original service book is present with the car alongside a service handbook, a vast log of invoices and 2 sets of keys.
