2000 Lamborghini Diablo GTR - One of 30 'GTR' Competition Models

The final and ultimate iteration of the iconic Lamborghini Diablo model was the lightweight ‘Diablo GTR’, constructed originally to compete in Lamborghini’s highly competitive European Super Trofeo championship
The factory built just thirty examples, all of which were based on the iconic Diablo GT model with increased power output from 575hp to 590hp, modified chassis featuring an integrated roll bar, improved suspension, centre lock competition magnesium wheels by Speedline Corse, competition braking system with uprated callipers, additional radiators for transmission oil cooling and an adjustable rear wing
The GTR benefitted from substantial weight reduction over the GT model by the removal of the air conditioning system, stereo, soundproofing and heatproofing. The body was constructed mainly from Carbon Fibre but retained a steel roof section to ensure structural rigidity and aluminium doors which allowed a significant reduction in weight resulting in electrifying performance
The spartan interior featured a single racing seat with 6-point seatbelt harness, MOMO fire extinguisher system and MOMO steering wheel, integrated roll cage and lightweight Plexiglass windows with sliding sections
The engine was a tuned version of the Diablo GT V12 unit which had the catyltic converters removed and featured a multi-throttle intake manifold with individual intake system, variable intake valve timing system, dynamic air-inlet duct upstream of the intake plenum, titanium connecting rods, and a lighter crankshaft
The eleventh chassis of thirty constructed, this Diablo GTR was originally sold to Mr Verrat, a Swiss gentleman who campaigned the car for the 2001 season. The GTR was sold at the end of that season to Mr Abramczyk via respected French dealer ‘MMC Paris’. The GTR competed in the 2002 season of the FFSA French GT Championship before it was acquired by Michel Mhitarian, owner of the respected Parisian dealership ‘Mecaniques, Modernes et Classiques’ (MMC Paris)
The GTR continued its competition career throughout the 2003 season within the FFSA French GT Championship at the capable hands of Mhitarian and participated in the ‘Supercar Rally’ that year, attracting great admiration in the process
The GTR was shipped to Bahrain in 2004 for the ‘GT Festival’ and was retained by MMC Paris until 2007, at which time it was sold to Cedric Leimers. Mr Leimers subsequently commissioned a restoration by leading marque experts Autovitesse of Paris, who had maintained the car throughout its competitive life
Acquired by the vendor via Lamborghini Garage Roland Affolter of Switzerland, the GTR has since enjoyed a number of track days and formed the centre piece of his significant collection until recently where it was consigned for sale with us, Dylan Miles Ltd
Available for viewing by appointment with us in the UK, this GTR is without doubt the ultimate Diablo and one of the most iconic supercars of the period. Interested parties should note the car is Swiss taxes paid
