1997 Silver Porsche 911 [993]

Essex, United Kingdom

Porsche 993 Carrera 4 S

The Carrera S models were launched for the 1996 model year and featured the powerful 285bhp air-cooled varioram engine, together with the wider body of the Turbo model. Their appearance was unique, however, as they retained the retractable rear spoiler of the Carrera which gives them their unique aggressive stance. They also have a build quality that has not been replicated in more modern variants since.
The 993 C4S is considered by many to be the most desirable of the normally aspirated 993’s, with its good looks and 993 Turbo 4WD specification chassis, including the big red brakes and the beautiful 18” hollow spoke alloys. Today, nice examples are becoming more desirable than the Turbo model itself.
This particular example was supplied new by AFN of Chiswick to Mr Lionel Murry on the 21.02.1997 and finished in arctic silver metallic with marble grey/metropole blue leather interior. This is a genuine UK C16 RHD car, supplied with the following specification.
ABS (Anti-locking brakes)
Dynamic 4WD with ABD (automatic braking differentials)
G64 6 Speed manual gearbox
Sports Chassis
18” Technology hollow spoke wheels with crested 4S wheel centres
M64/21 285BHP 3.6 litre flat-six engine
Air Conditioning
PAS (Power Steering)
Extended leather interior
Sound pack
Electric windows
Electric sunroof
Electric mirrors
Electric hardback sports seats
Third rear brake light

‘This car has just come out of a private collection and presents in a condition a lot closer to new than its current 23 years of age. It has also recently been featured in both 911& Porsche World 2017 and GT Porsche in 2018.
With just 31,500 documented miles from new and still in immaculate condition throughout, this example is a suitable car for another collector. Alternatively, the 993 was the last and most useable of the air-cooled 911s, so why not drive it as Porsche intended? Even with an additional 4,000 miles a year, it will still have less than 40,000 miles under its belt when it hits a quarter of a century. It also comes with bulletproof reliability and build quality, together with an analogue driving experience that is missing in today’s cars and guaranteed to hold its value far better than its modern equivalent.
