TVR Speed Six Throttle Body Modification Performance
I am offering a TVR Speed Six throttle body modification to cure the well documented problem with premature wear in the spindle housing. This wear causes difficulty in balancing the bodies as well as them quickly going out of tune after setting up. The result of this is poor emissions, hesitation, misfires as well as a pronounced hiccup in the higher rev range.
Our solution is to modify each throttle body to accept a pair of pre greased, high quality sealed bearings and viton seals. This eliminates the excess movement in the spindle as well as disallowing air to enter the intake using this route. The load on the bearing is minimal and the modification should comfortably outlast the life of the engine. Both the bearings and seals are replaceable if necessary in the future.
The price for the modification is £250 including return postage within the UK.
The bodies can also be vapour blasted while stripped to give them a 'better than new' finish. The fuel rail can also be blasted to match. The linkages can also be blasted and replated to recreate their original gold finish. Please enquire for prices for this.
I can also supply graphite sandwiched gaskets for mounting the bodies to the cylinder head. These give a long time reliable seal instead of using silicone sealant which can degrade over time and cause leaks to occur.
For those seeking more power potential, the spindles can be thinned to allow more air to flow through the body with less restriction. This can improve throttle response and performance. If a carbon or stainless steel airbox is being used with silicone joining pipes, the inlet throat can be tapered to remove the power sapping step in the body. CAD/CAM software and a CNC machining centre is used to accurately produce the profile in the body.
