Service History
What a wonderful piece of history this car is. Previously supplied by us.This is a 1966 1500 Deluxe beetle that was built on the very first day of production of the 1967 Model year.
Purchased from new by an Mr Otis.R.Cole (Ex USA Navy Commander) who served on the U.S.S Dace in World War 2 who subsiquenly owned the car from new until 2005 !
"Otis" The Beetle was ordered BY Otis.R.Cole in July 1966 before taking delivery of it from the factory in Germany later that year before touring Europe for months. There are actually european service docuements with the car to substantiate service work carried out in germany, france, spain and portugal. At the end of his tour he made his way to the port of Lisbon, Portugal and boarded a trans-atlantic ferry to Miami with "otis" the beetle at took it home!
In the history file is just marvelous - docuements include the orginal order forms, purchase documents, service book, european service invoices (even the Lisbon to Miami ferry tickets!) along with various history while the vehicle was in the USA.
At the end Of Otis.R.Cole's ownership in 2005 the car was then purchased and recommissioned before making its way over to the UK in 2010 where it as been used sparingly since - Including as a wedding vehicle!
Most recent works carried out on "Otis" include new fuel lines, tyres, and a completely rebuilt front beam axle using only "heritage" VW parts.
Overall this vehicle ooses with history and patina. The interior remains in incredible condition with no rips or signs of ware and what a wonderful driving experience.
