Once in lifetime opportunity to acquire what could possibly be one of the best examples of this amazing car. I won’t bore you with the history of ‘Datsun’ all I can say is that it certainly shook the British car market when they arrived with the bullet proof reliability and forward thinking design which make this 41 year old classic an amazing car to drive even today. Now let me tell you about this particular example. Purchased new by Mr Dawes from one the oldest Datsun garages that still exist today “Ancaster Garages’ owned by Messrs Harold Cole. The car was pre registered to the main dealer but sold as new to the one and only keeper till recently. I have sent of the V5 to get the car registered as ‘historic vehicle’ which it is entitled to and make road tax free and also ULEZ free for drivers in London.
The car has covered an incredible 19,809 miles which represents less then 484 miles a year in its 41 year life. Apparently the car was used by Mr Dawes to mainly take his dear wife to the local Waitrose supermarket and then stored again which has preserved this beautiful car to this day. Stunning Red Coachwork which is in excellent condition.
The car has great wealth of history with a stack of old mot certificates and the original Bill of sale, order and letter from Lombard finance is present. The original sets of keys are also included. The car did have an mot done even though it does not need to have one. Needless to say the cheap classic insurance and low running cost make it very tempting to use and enjoy.
The car was fitted with the period alloy wheels and an updated “Sharp Stereo” with two speakers when new apart from that the car is original and stock apart from a additional lighter. Incredibly both the radios work and the owner was so fussy he even had a additional cigarette lighter which I can only think he didn’t want to use the original and that even looks like new with no sign of smoking, pets or any damage to the wonderful black trim. A small nick on the drivers seat is all that I can see.
The car drives flawlessly and is smooth and keeps up very well on today’s modern day driving standards. The clutch is original and the engine bay is very clean and pleasant. The boot, spare wheel and rear floor are all in exceptional conditional as the photos show.
So all in all this is a real opportunity for a collector or style minded person to purchase a true one off car that has been fastidiously cared for.
