Jaguar E-Type 4.2 Series 2 FHC 2+2
Only 1408 miles since total restoration First registered in October 1969, this E-Type Series 2 2+2 FHC was sent to S H Newsome Coventry as the original distributor and supplied new by Parkgate Garage, Coventry to M Buckley on 30th October 1969. The restoration owner then purchased the car in 2015 from the estate of Mr Buckley who had owned the car for 45 years. The Jaguar Heritage Certificate shows the car to be manufactured on the 30th June 1969 and left the factory on the 15th July 1969. According to the family of M Buckley the car had a light restoration in the 1990's which included the front seats being flown to Coventry for re-trimming. At the time of his death the car was again undergoing a restoration and was purchased as was at the time. The car was brought by the restoration owner with 66,500 miles on the clock and having only covered 2500 miles the previous 3 years before. Since then the car has covered circa 1000 miles mainly on the Classic Car Show circuit. Since 2015 the car has undergone a significant 40,000.00 restoration project which took around 2 years to complete. The car is presented in Signal Red with Contrasting Black Leather trim. During the restoration process, all assemblies and parts were inspected and replaced where necessary to maintain a high standard of restoration. The engine was completely rebuilt with machining undertaken by Classic Car & Rally and fitted with new pistons, liners, valves/valve seats, high torque starter motor, stainless steel manifolds, stubby ram pipes and many many more items. The body restoration. painting and interior trim was undertaken by David and Paul Sharman of Barkston Refinishing, whilst the brightwork was sent to Nottingham Plaiters for re-chroming. The car comes with a comprehensive history file containing all receipts, a documented summary of the work undertaken, a photographic record of the total restoration and a box of original parts should the buyer wish to put the car back to original factory specification. The Jaguar Heritage Certificate confirms that the original engine was changed by the factory and the current engine number, gearbox number and registration numbers are all original as is the colour combination of Signal Red with Black Trim. The current owner purchased the car in 2018 and has covered 408 miles in total. This is a well presented highly cherished example that is probably one of the best examples on the market currently.
