LOTUS ELITE 1962
Lotus Elite Coventry Climax 1962 - chassis number 1707 (listed in the book by Dennis E. Ortenburger), exported from England in 1963 to Singapore by the Eastern Auto Company. The Elite's first owner was the Crown Prince of the State of Johore, the car had several other owners whilst in Singapore before being repatriated back to England in 1985. Once back home, the car was maintained by Elite specialists such as Miles Wilkins of Fibreglass Services and Tony Thompson Racing. A major restoration was completed by Tony in 2008. More recently in 2016 the FWE Climax engine was stripped, inspected and rebuilt by Phillips of Wormley. The car if fitted with genuine lightweight alloy Borrani wire wheels and three eared spinners. Also fitted is the desirable ZF all synchromesh gearbox. Included with the car is a comprehensive history file containing the original Singaporean vehicle registration book, many invoices, MOT certificates and various letters from previous owners. Recently featured in Classic Cars and Absolute Lotus magazines. This Elite is totally usable and ready to go and represents excellent value in todays market.
