ALFA ROMEO SPIDER T.SPARK 2.0 16V 1997
These 916 series Alfa Romeos are very reasonable at the moment and represent a great way into Alfa motoring and in the case of the Spider a great car for open top summer driving.
Launched in 1995 at the Geneva Motor Show, with UK deliveries commencing in spring 1996 with the 2.0 liter version, this Enrico Fumia designed Alfa won numerous awards and great reviews with Autocar magazine commenting that the Alfa was "Pretty, fun to drive and a worthy successor to the Duetto"
This car is a very early Phase 1 car first registered in January 1997, it looks great in the desirable combination of silver with black interior and a manual black soft top, which means less to go wrong. As with previous Alfa soft tops it is very easy to use. In many ways the 2 Litre 4 cylinder TwinSpark engine is the best choice being lighter than the V6 so adding less to the front weight, making a better handling car, while still feeling very brisk on the road.
The car drives well and feels tight and responsive on the road, with that lovely Alfa engine sound and without the musty damp smell that affects many of these cars where water ingress has been a problem.
This Spyder has had 12 previous owners and covered 111500 miles and has just had a cambelt service carried out. It will come with a new full MOT, but unfortunately not much history, just some old MOTs and service documents. Does this matter when the car is this much fun at such a reasonable price?
