Jaguar E-Type V12

This excellent Jaguar E-Type Series 3 Coup๏ฟฝ began life in December 1970 in left-hand drive form and was shipped to Burlingame British Cars Inc of California and onwards to its first owner, a Howard Engelsher of San Mateo. Returning from the US in 1999 this E-Type was subsequently registered as DDG 962J Shortly after landing back on these shores it was subject to a full restoration to the highest level, Right-Hand Drive conversion and mechanical rebuild by a marque specialist who provided a complete photographic record of the work which accompanies the car. The Jaguar was refinished in its original BRG and fully re-trimmed in light Tan Leather as photographed and the result is very impressive. The headlining was replaced at the same time. There are a large number of invoices accompanying the car, principally for parts supplied by SNG Barratt. Additionally and importantantly, it has been converted to fuel injection replacing the problematic Strombergs and the gearbox has been upgraded to a Getrag 5-speed unit, a common upgrade offering greater flexibility, reliability and economy. Coupled to a stainless exhaust system, the result is outstanding and this is one of the best that I have driven. Designed to showcase the new smooth and torquey 5.3-litre engine, originally developed for Le Mans, the Series 3 cars were available as a 'Roadster' (convertible) or a '2+2' Coupe. The Series 3 is easily identifiable by its large cross-slatted front grille, flared wheel arches, wider tyres, a larger bonnet bulge, updated bumpers, four exhaust tips, and a badge on the rear that proclaims it to be a V12. It also featured up-rated brakes, power steering as standard and a large horizontal scoop added to the underside of the bonnet to assist with cooling. The interior was entirely new in the V12, with more comfortable seating, stylish new door panels and a smaller, dished and leather-rimmed steering wheel. Being slightly larger and altogether much softer in nature, the E-type in Series 3 form had lost the wildness of its youth but gained the long-legged touring profile, to which it was arguably better suited. The combination of British Racing Green paintwork, immaculate tan interior and gleaming Chrome Wire Wheels really suits the Series 3 Coupe's distinctive profile. To conclude, this is an ideal opportunity to buy a wonderful rust free E Type where all of the hard work has been completed and documented to the highest standard. We feel that this car represents exceptional value in today's market. This has to be seen (and heard!) ...
