I wonder what would stop you buying?
So many cars I wouldn't buy new. If I'm spending the full amount, and keeping the car for ages, then these things just will not do, and I have found all these things recently on my travels:-

Space saver spare tyre
No spare tyre
Complicated locking systems
Seats with no thigh support, and/or no support to the lower back
Tinted band, which I have to peer through, at top of the windscreen
Lack of a temperature gauge
Handbrake in an odd place (or no proper handbrake)
Electronic handbrake with no obvious release button
In a manual: Moving the gear lever forwards - alongside 1st - to go into reverse (e.g. most VWs)
Steering wheel not round
Designed so you can't change bulbs yourself

But strangely enough I can accept some of these on used cars, if I have to. Except the lack of a handbrake.

The growing apparent acceptance that a 3 k bill at 70,000 miles is acceptable - it isn't rage.

Many of them have no extra appeal over a 1999 Corolla 2.0 normally aspirated diesel - so rather pointless.

Too many pretend 4 x 4s - they look pathetic.

Hard to find a sensible match between power and engine size on modern petrols - small turbocharged engines with the power of a larger normally aspirated engine don't float my boat - 180 bhp on a 1.4 turbo petrol isn't good for long term durability.

Can frequently get a nicer car 2nd hand for the price id pay for a brand new one.

Dacia Sanderos are going to be half price in 3 years time - might as well wait biggrin*.

  • Sandero is based on a Clio right - it has a chance of holding its value - Clios are good cars imo

Auto stop start. Even though it can be over ridden, I would rule out any car purely based upon this.

This, or it would be if I was in the position to buy a brand new car anyway.

Agree 100 percent Justin - ridiculous idea - for me part of the appeal of a sunroof - is been able to open it. Sunroofs are a very rare thing on modern cars too - well the proper ones that actually open at least.

Something else that turns me off is the sort of bcensoredks marketing like what went on with the Mk 3 Yaris when it came out - where stupid things like infortainement and reversing camera were more important then the car itself.

Ive no problem with other people buying new - someone has to buy new cars so those of us who buy used - have something to purchase at 3 years old and 70 percent less then the new price biggrin.

Complexity.

Overly complicated cars are hugely expensive to work on and wont age well. I suppose they don't want it to be fixable though, they want you to break it and just buy another one.
