Yeah, you did a great bit of business in buying that striker - I'm not trying to spell his name - he's certainly got an eye for goal.

Welldone on a great season, so much entertainment from your lot.

Everton fan.
Cheers and well done for your lot too - it always impresses me how Moyes gets so much from you. With you finishing above the red half, it must be a satisfying seasons work?
yeah, very satisfying watching Liverpool implode... :-)

Moyes net spend over 10 years in charge: Just 15 million. remarkable.

Moyes net trophies in 10 years- 0

But I still rate him as a manager, wouldn't be surprised if he left Everton this Summer yes

Well done the Toon, along with Swansea you have been a highlight of the season and no one would have begrudged you a CL place. Good luck next season.

I wonder how much being relegated affected that figure?

In fact, it says...

Look at the minus figures seen.

To some degree , yes (wow, I never realised we got £10m for Bassong!). But the following season our net spend was even less, thanks Andy biggrin

Wasn't being funny, but the relegation took your net down a great deal. Looking at the figure from the start of the prem, you are still quite high up there, even with that 25 mill deposit in the bank.

Indeed, I was looking for some crumbs of comfort when wondering if Ashley will sell our best players this summer. frown

Why do we insist on droning on with these kind of statements?
Talk about manufacturing offers...

I get that there are bigger fish in the pond, but it makes the players aware that we are but a stop-gap for their careers.. and that cant be a good thing?

I don't think there'll be many leaving in the summer. I would imagine the 'big' clubs will be watching at the start of next season to see if the players can repeat their performances then maybe look at thenm in the January window.
Pardew seems to be doing a reverse Redknapp, instead of name dropping other teams players he's doing it to his own biggrin

Maybe he's being clever and prompting the players to think about their future while they're still on the high of finishing 5th place. He's already had Cisse come out and say he will be here next season (altohugh for some players that would be taken with a pinch of salt, I'm not sure Cisse is one of them) and if you've got a proven goalscorer staying, plus maybe a couple of defensive additions they'll start to think it's better to stay than go and sit on City's bench.

Looking through the transfer rumours it looks like a rough picture is starting to form:

Out

Danny Guthrie - Wants first team football, Villa interested
Leon Best - Wants first team football, Villa interested as well
Danny Simpson Wants a better contract, unlikely to get it
Demba Ba - Linked with Chelsea, dislikes playing on the left and seeks main striker role
  • Tiote - Another rumoured to Chelsea
  • Cisse - Linked with Real Madrid, Barca etc. Has declared intent to stay at NUFC
  • Cabaye - Linked with Chelsea, Man Utd etc
  • Ben Arfa - Linked with Inter Milan, Juventus etc. Has declared intent to stay at NUFC
So the bottom four are by no-means certain, but Ba has expressed a desire to leave. Cisse and Ben Arfa have said they are ignoring transfer rumours and are focused on Newcastle. That doesn't mean Ashley won't sell them if a stupid offer comes in. Cabaye has been keeping very quiet...

In

Mathieu Debuchy (Defender) - Friend and former team mate of Cabaye
Luuk de Jong (Striker) - Team mate of transfer target Douglas
Serdar Tasci (Defender) - Spurs also looking at him
Jacob Butterfield (Midfielder) - Long term interest
Raul (Striker) - Available on free transfer, potential back up
Douglas Franco Teixeira (Defender) - Main target, deal pretty much done
Javi Marquez (Midfielder) - Monitored over last 2 years, has not renewed his contract
Mohamed Diame (Midfielder)
Gylfi Sigurdsson (Midfielder) - Swansea want to sign him, but Pardew is considering a bid
Adam Maher (Midfielder) - Depending on whether Tiote stays
Jan Vertonghen (Defender) - Potential if deal for Douglas falls through
Erik Pieters (Defender) - Targeted last season, but deal delays made us sign Santon

I can see the transfer window being exciting this season...

Great post. However, I think we can simplify things:
Any proper bid in for a player and they are off - unfortunately.

Time to put in a bid for Adam Johnson? Not being picked for England will hammer home to him just how much he needs first team football if he wants his career to progress. With City lilely to buy more world class players over the summer he won't find it there. Johnson left, Ben Arfa right, Cisse up top would make for a great attack.

I doubt he'd fit within the wage structure let alone player profile, though the latter may flex a little with a euro campaign to make allowance for.

If you lose those players, you'll be back fighting relegation next season.

Why would the players mentioned move to NUFC? If your gonna sell the crown jewels ?
