Hi everybody, my first post after spending a few years browsing!

I've been keeping an eye out for a Gallardo Spyder for a few months now with a budget of around 65-75k. VVS have a couple available, one just shy of 70k but the mileage is slightly higher than I want. Does anyone know this vehicle or have any thoughts on the mileage/residual. I'd probably own it for 3-4 years and put not more than 10k on it. It's a manual rather than my perferred choice of eGear. The main time I'll use it will be on a 4-5 hour motorway journey once a fortnight. A1/M25/M3 so traffic is usually heavy.

The other two they have are pushing my budget but I think they may be better long term plus they're both eGear. I'm not particuarly keen on the Blue but it seems to have a good spec.

Any thoughts? Any similar cars that may be suitable?

Your going to spend £70k on a car to do 10k in 4 years in, of which it will mainly be used for heavy motorway traffic use????

Pioneer.....welcome and good luck with the search...took me 9 months to find mine but thanks to the great feedback and recommendations, I secured mine a few weeks back. Some great threads on here from 70proof which provide some good pros and cons.

My only feedback based on your shortlist.....keep looking - and be clear on what you want spec wise too - shame that JPerformance car is another that was sold some time back and being re-listed.

Speak with Charles at Lambo Sevenoaks and let him have your requirements - very good at getting back in contact if the right car comes his way. Also speak with Tim at Top555 - they have a lot of cars turning over right now and the right one may pop up.

Enjoy the search.

Thanks, making notes all the time. I did have a read of 70proof's thread, very helpful for a novice like me.

Out of interest why do you want a Lambo to do motorway miles in? Heavy fuel, boring roads, huge costs, huge depreciation. Why not get an E-Class or something to do that in and hire a Lambo for when you want some fun on the twisty stuff? Just curious!

When I was looking for my first Gallardo I didnt want caelum blue, I wanted black. Went to look at one locally at Meridian that happened to be in caelum and loved it, in the flesh it's so much nicer. I ended up buying one in Caelum blue, one of the better colours in my opinion. Although many (who probably have never owned one) will disagree.

I'll use it on some of the A roads up here in the Fens no doubt but the A1/M25/M3 is a journey I make once every two weeks come rain or shine. It's 3-days I spend with my son so it would change the feel of our weekends together, a bit more memorable hopefully. Apart from that I may not actually get to use it much.

It will definitely be memorable have you heard a V10 howling to the red line.

Used to go out in a friend's one some time ago which is when I got the bug. I've got the perfect plate for it (V10 followed by my initials) which I originally bought for a M6!

As expected I also looked at the F430 when considering the G Spyder. VVS have one in red but it's a P1 car with fairly high mileage.

http://vvsuk.co.uk/sports-cars/ferrari/f430

Within my budget nicely though and I love the red with the black interior. Would the fact it will be an ex-car club vehicle put most people off? I've never had a 'supercar' before in this league but I know it would put me off buying a M5, M6 etc. Plus it will probably be close to 60k when I come to sell it. That's bad I guess?!

If VVS are selling it at £66k now, there's no way you'll be selling it for £60k in three years as a private sale, with higher mileage and being an ex hire car......closer to £50k imo.....
