Pic Of The Week: Donington Historic

Mmmmm...sunset-ey sports car goodness...

With POTW, we like to try and keep things topical. So why is it that this week (you may ask) we are using a picture from the inaugural Donington Historic Festival, an event that happened way back in April?

Well, quite apart from the fact that a pair of GT40s (and a car whose identity escapes us) sprinting off into the sunset is one heck of an evocative image (we reckon), the Donington Historic peeps have recently released dates for the second iteration of the festival - so keep the weekend of 5th and 6th May 2012 free. (That's when it's happening, by the way.)

In the meantime, you can always while away the months pretending it's you in one of the GT40s, racing away into the dusk...

The mystery car is, I'm pretty sure, a Chevron B8.

Remarkably similar to one I submitted (rather arrogantly, it must be said) as POTW a couple of months ago...

Ah yes, I do remember that. Looking back at it, the GT40 in yours is doing a nicer bit of drifitng. Lovely.

ps - can't remember why we decided not to run it as a POTW in the end but obviously there was something else super-important to run instead... wink *cough*, so our apologies for that...

I took a good picture of the same Linden green GT40 at Donington Historic

You can just see the opposite lock the drivers got on at the front. Can't beat a Linden green GT40, they look awesome but I might be a little biased as I am building a replica of this very car.

Some of my pics from the meet;

And the reason I actually went;

Four CSL Batmobiles on the day. Awesome sight.
