hi all

the porkas back out and about as the salt is now gone round my parts, the previous owner of my car had the wheels painted in that dark chrome look stuff not long before i bought it, but i'm not sure i like it ! i sometimes think it look's a bit bling or chav-ish !

what do you lot think

1. leave it as is

2. get them back to factory silver or....

3. paint them turbo s gt silver ?

cheers kev

Leave them as they are - they go really nicely with the body colour.

yeah yeah yeah ^^^^^^^^^

gratuatious look at my lovely motor thread haha only joking pal...
kind of see what you mean with the smoked chrome, imho turbo alloys look best in plain old carrera silver.
on your colour car gunmetal grey would look good & for an individual twist you could leave the dished out part between the spokes in chrome but i think i'd be tempted to just go for silver, like i said it suits the wheels perfectly.

or if you're feeling a bit of an early 90's revival you could do the posrche option of wheels painted in exterior colour, just a thought!

edited just to ask the colour of the car?
on my screen it looks light metalic blue but now i'm not sure as the chrome wheels make it look darker? is it silver?

It's not offence as it is.. but if it were me I'd go back to bright silver.. It's how the car 'Should be' Personally I'm just not down with the whole coloured or black alloys thing.

Nice car BTW.

ahhh well if it's polar silver then i'd go with guards red for the wheels with red Turbo script along the sills, stick some mobil pegasus triangles on the front wings & big bd ala james dean on the rear panel, you're all set for le mans then haha

in fact for added comedy value have a driver name on doors, james dean would look a bit naff so how about dame jean?

.......or maybe not eh?! yeah i'm going for orig silver finsh, polar silver looks great & with the aero kit it really doesn't need anything else. gorgeous car mate

For a change I like the smoked chrome wheels on the silver 997 in this thread:

http://www.pistonheads.co.uk/gassing/topic.asp?h=0...

They can always be redone back in silver in the future

thanks for the imput so far guys (and the nice comments on the car) it's looking like standard silver so far keep the imput coming though please and feel free to say "THEY LOOK HORRID GET THEM PAINTED ASAP" if you wish i'm very thick skinned smile

also i like the 2 links posted think the grey with red strip actually looks very good but it's a little bold for me if i do change them it'll be for a standard porka colour just not sure what goes best with the polar, black car i'd say silver, silver car i'd say silver, colbalt blue car i'd say silver i just cant decide with this bloody polar smile

mates and family wise most say they look nice as is but 3 or 4 of them as soon as they seen the car said the wheels spoil the hole car, i've not done anything about it so far as i've only had the car 7 month or so and 3 of them have been spent locked in the garage while the roads have been salted.

Kev

You have upset me, Just because I live down South I/m not a Chav, The wheels are high power silver with a black inner these were repainted by Rimstock, The high power silver I understand is used on the Turbo S wheels.

I'm going against the grain in this thread - anthracite (dark grey)for me its a nice contrast with that body colour

I like the anthracite with the red rim. It looks better in the flesh.....but then I may be a little biased.
