I know this is stupid question, as am about to spend lot of money replacing my dash, why do they crack

If it’s the wood veneer your talking about it’s because it’s stuck to a metal backing plate that heats up,at a different rate from the wood so expands and contracts until the veneer can’t take it anymore.
A new one done by one of the experts are meant to use a better glue that allows for this movement or so I once read!
