Oh, it disappeared years ago. Always had something parked on the drive with keyless ever since though. Did like that IS.

Regarding the Cayman GTS 4.0 and the GR Yaris, I'm in the intersecting bit in the Venn diagram.
This arrived in November:

It's my third Cayman, and I've owned them continuously since March 2006 apart from a few months last year between selling the previous one and getting the new one.

Regarding the Yaris, I've been keen for a good few years on the idea of adding a hot hatch and the Yaris is right up my alley as a B-road blaster and wet trackday car. I had a black Citroen AX GT back in the mid 1990s as my first fast car, aged 25 - so my incoming Yaris will be black in homage!

Roll on August, September or whenever it turns up smile

Had the message today to say that mine has started build. Originally the dealer said end feb/early March for delivery, I’m in no rush, not even got hold of a test drive yet.

How long have others taken to arrive after build start?
Ooh now it has finished build, the dot is now on ‘left the factory’ just a tick away from getting on the boat.

I think I’m in the minority of I’d prefer it to be later in the year, when hopefully it’ll be possible to use it! Still a few weeks to decide I guess.

SNAP. I've just had an email saying mine has left the factory. I ordered mine November. From this point does anyone remember or know roughly how long it took to arrive for collection??.

I too was told March and was happy about that for various reasons but now thinking it could be Feb? or am I wrong.

I shall give the dealer a call. I too haven't had a chance to even have a drive! KENT has been locked down for ages so dealers haven't been able to get me a drive (well Canterbury) I had to cancel a drive then few days later full lockdown again!!.

No comparison the Porsche will be leagues ahead in terms of bills. My 981S only does minimal miles per year but will still cost lots more than a Yaris. Warranty alone is over a grand for the 2 years that it would need to be a fair comparison to the Yaris.
Not my experience - the official service interval on a 981 is 2 years and 20k miles. Personally not keen to run 20k miles on an oil change - but if you are then the Porsche would be cheaper to service for a high mileage driver. Even if you aren't and doing (say) 6k a year - but still happy to run 12k and 2 years between services (as I was) the Porsche will work out about as cheap (or expensive...).

4-6 weeks to ship over then 2 weeks port to dealer. March seems right.

So what was the breakdown of the total cost of ownership over 5 years 60k miles?

SNAP ish

I was booked in for a drive but someone totalled the demonstrator with a deer beforehand. Then more lockdown cry

My dealer nono reckoned 3rd March.

If we’re under the same restrictions, seems it won’t be legal to test drive by then. I’m leaning 60/40 towards cancelling at the moment.

This is the one fly in the ointment for me as using it as my work car/daily driver it'll do 12-15000mls a year so that works out to be quite expecive servicing costs compared to my current work horse which asks for a service every 16000mls.
Do 6k a year and servicing costs look pretty reasonable. Do 12 or more and you are getting up to Porsche prices.
Mmm that's my thinking its getting into higher brackets and slightly takes the shine off as a flat-out fun daily driver. I'm confident my excitement for owning one will see my order through and I hope to keep it long term (first time ever) if its all it's cracked up to be.

Only had it 4 years and just under 20k. Unfortunately don't have the bills to hand, but with fixed price servicing that is now in place (or better still a good indy) servicing costs were around the schedule quoted, would have been less with an Indy. The only extras you have to factor in are plug changes and brake fluid changes - which the Yaris will be subject to.

Mine is coming in two weeks (in Switzerland) - Basic White + Track Pack. Having been putting money aside for a 981 Boxster / Cayman S / GTS but bang for but, felt this little thing was a better, more fun package! Had it on demo for a couple of hours and was grinning like a loon the whole time. Fab car!
You'll need to take care with speed in Switzerland ... when I worked there I was handed a sheet showing how little excess speed would send me directly to gaol ...
If I remember correctly, for lower speeds I believe that if banned there was the option for mobility of a moped ?
Oh I'm aware mate, don't worry! It's a form of stealth taxation here really. You tend not to end up behind bars, but you do get bans (usually over a period of your choosing - for most people, December) and fines are tied to your salary. I think CH still holds the record for the largest speeding fine. It's more a case of where you do it, if you're over 20km/h the posted limit in a built up area (20 or 30) then you're going straight to court.

I've had a few fines on the moto this year, 52km/h in a 50 and 110km/h in a 100 (just before it became a 120km/h limit).

Also if you do get banned, you're not allowed to ride mopeds either!

That's obviously much greater, - but we were talking service costs which, despite the eyewatering hourly rates Porsche charge, aren't that high for the class of car because of the long service intervals. By contrast the Yaris is undeniably expensive to service - certainly for something which might be categorised with hot hatches and particularly if you do a higher than average mileage.

Does the Focus weight 650,000 tonnes or are they known for not making their power as that Yaris walked away with ease. Considering the alleged power difference.

Very impressive.
