Help me lose my belly
Discussion
I’m currently on a weight loss and healthy lifestyle.
I’m currently 20 stone. My dream is 12 stone but would settle for 13/14 if at all possible.
However although I seem to be loosing weight i need to lose my belly. I’ve recently purchased an exercise bike which is being used daily, and can see I’m getting faster and stronger each week. But isn’t not helping the belly.
What equipment or methods do I need to do to concentrate on the belly?
Any links to You Tube videos would also be great. I will need to start slowly and work hard.
Thanks
Reduce your food intake drastically to around 1500 kcals a day if possible, if not, certainly no more than 2000
An exercise bike is great for your stamina and heart, but won't really do anything for your belly.
Get a good quality rowing machine, or use one at the gym.
Cut out beer, it's full of sugar, hence the term beer belly.
Be realistic, that's a lot to lose, allow yourself a couple of years to reach your target.
You can do it.
Good luck.

If you are serious I'd recommend Wegovy/Ozempic in combination with your exercise and a healthy diet. You won't lose fat on your belly any quicker than anywhere else.
But you would also put it back on as soon as you stop taking itShamefully I don’t drink alcohol. More of a food belly rather than a beer belly.
I’m on monjarno, just about to start my second pen, but have cut my food intake ie crisps and chocolate and fizzy drinks. Not had any since starting my journey 5 weeks ago.
I want to loose the belly and get toned along the way of my weight loss. I just need to learn what exercise I need to do, something I can start of slow and build up too.
I’ve never seen inside a gym and would rather start off from home. Hence buying an exercise bike.

You can't spot reduce fat. (you cant focus on one area of your body to lose fat). This is pretty much a newbie question/answer 101. At the end of the day weight (fat) loss is about a calorie deficit, not how many hours you spend exercising. 1hour of exercising is still about 5% of the calories you've burnt in a day.
If you want something to help you lose weight there's a wegovy/mounjaro thread 2 topics below yours you can view.
at the end of the day weight loss is calories in vs calories out. how you do that is up to you as long as you are consistent. keeping it off is another thing all together and is about you finding balance.

I am changing my life style. The monjarno has controlled my sugar rush to be able to get started. I’m in it for the long haul, I’m motivated to change my life and save my life.
I would just like to see some change in my appearance and my belly.

With Mounjaro it's not until you get to at least a couple of months that you will experience any real results. If I have understood you correctly you are on your second week. Try to let your body adapt to the medication and your hunger dissipate before you embark on any radical training program. You may have problems with energy and recovery otherwise.I've lost about 3 stone in the last year, with most of that while on Mounjaro. The majority of the weight was on my belly and a had a stereotypical "dad bod".
I've been off the Mounjaro for about 6 weeks now and still losing 1-2lb per week while just about in the healthy BMI range. I'm eating well and going to the gym 4x per week.
I still have a belly
Much smaller than what it was of course but I suspect you will see similar in that you will need to be well within a healthy BMI range before you have a semblance of a flat stomach and can't target it directly.
I would stick with the Mounjaro, understand it isn't an overnight fix and try to use the assistance it gives to build some healthy habits. I reckon you'll get where you want to be before the end of 2025.

Also, when losing weight don’t focus on the scales, take regular body measurementd and progress photos, you’ll notice clothes fit better, legs get smaller etc and weight can stay the same
Also don’t weigh weekly, weight can fluctuate day to day depending on so many factors that it’s actually not a very good indicator that you’ve lost weight, so many people weigh once a week, don’t see movement despite being “good” and give up, where as it could just be water retention
There’s a great thread on here called “reboot your life” of a PHer who’s doing great work losing big amounts of weight and keeping a thread going, well worth a read

Low GI diet and cut out any sugars not from natural sources.
Be careful with some fruits as too sugary anyway.
After two weeks on low GI you’ll find yourself not as hungry anymore.
Don’t snack.
Be sensible if you do want something in between meals. A lot of crisps are Low GI but are obviously bad for you. Eat some cheese or something instead.
As you restrict sugars you’ll find things like joints don’t ache as much.
I’ll have the occasional dessert at a nice dinner and feel dreadful later on.
Never touch anything to do with potatoes (including sweet pots) but feel free to drink some cream.
Stick with it. Don’t be weak willed and don’t cheat in first year. Just don’t. You are in charge of your body.

Is the long and short answer. For men, lower belly fat usually one of the last areas to go.
I would recommend you do some weight training. With a significant caloric deficit and the absence of weight training, you'll also be losing muscle. Do the weight training to maintain/build muscle (art higher body fat % you can lose fat and gain muscle even in calorie deficit).
I’ve been on a weight loss journey since the start of Feb when I went for an annual check up with the Gap and was pretty shocked by the scales.
I’ve been into going to the gym for nearly 4 years but it was mainly weight lifting heavy and I was justifying my food intake as needing to bulk to lift heavier, I can lift good weight.
Anyway since the start of feb I’ve managed to lose about 14kg in weight and I’ve dropped a clothes size, no special drugs just watching the calorie intake and exercise involving a lot more cardio, cross trainer for 40 mins 4 times a week and more walking.
I’ve found My Fitness pal great for tracking my food intake which has really raised my awareness.
Aiming to lose another 20kg by the time I go on holiday in August.

Thank you. This is exactly what I have done. Cut out all sugars and drinking protein drink in the morning, slim fast for lunch and a small dinner at night. Be careful with some fruits as too sugary anyway.
