Hi all,
To my suprise last week (from meeting JDMc) I realised that my Z4M Roadster's strut brace isn't standard.

Mine is essentially flattened, adjustable and appears to be some sort of composite (painted black). JDMc's was tubular and shiny...

Now I'm thinking Z4M's don't actually come with strut braces as standard...

I'll try to get a piccy later so see if anyone can help me identify what I've got (hopefully not a halfords one hehe)...

Has anyone got any picture of their strut braces they can post up?

Hi Graham,

Just thought I would post a pic of mine up (BMWs own)

I think yours looks like this one:

Which is from: http://www.strongstrut.com/ But there must be a UK reseller somewhere.

Cheers Jack.

Oh no..... I've actually got a mixture!!!
The main brace looks just like what you've posted, but my triangular ones are standard rolleyes... That's going to annoy me!

Hi guys

I have a Z4MC in the workshop this week for detail , CSL's wheels in dark chrome colour , and the owner has left me a new front strut brace for his car .

I will take a few pics of the strut brace when fitting it and part numbers as its a BMW aftermarket part i think ! wink

Hi Kelly, that would be me! smile
Yes I bought it direct from BMW, it's on their website as a bolt-on factory item.
I think AC Schnitzer do a nice carbon strut brace for the Z4M also.

So matching firewall struts would cost me $185 plus a little for postage... scratchchin
I'll probably put this on hold till I've got things like wheels etc.

Are there any other good products available?

Bush limiting kits and adjustable camber plates are apparently very good.

Then a full Geo setup and it should drive a dream.

Performance wise most is in the handling and brakes after that you are looking at mega bucks, other options are Hayward and Scott exhaust or maybe a Milltek then a Gruppe M induction kit.

ESS superchargers would make for an interesting car but only if you have upwards of £10k to spend.

Is that hinged, pointless if it is.

I've got the BMW one 235 from the dealer

The hinge will allow lateral movement; the point of the brace is to reduce flex and any movement of the strut towers

It wouldn't be as stiff as a rigid link, granted but I think "pointless" is a little inaccurate.
