If he was arrested on suspicion of abduction on Tuesday, can he be further arrested (in the technical sense) for murder today and thus held for questioning for murder for longer than might be permitted on the abduction offence?
Hope you understand what I mean.
No the new charges don't reset the "clock" they need to charge him by 5pm or apply for another extension and then they need to charge him by 5pm tomorrow or release himHope you understand what I mean.

The description was given by various young children who saw the incident from a distance in the evening when it was probably starting to get a bit dark.
Reports were it was 7.30pm, so it would have been slightly more than a bit dark I think.Where I live it's not dark at 7.00pm, or 7.30 but it is starting to get dark.
Not sure exactly what it's like in west Mid-Wales at that time, so said "probably".

So what would happen if something entirely unconnected (say another abduction) came to light five minutes before the final deadline? Would he have to be free for a prescribed period before he could be questioned on that? Or , say further information come to light after his release, can the clock be started again at any point in time with regard to questioning the bloke?richie slow said:
Let's hope that he did "it" then, shall we. Perish the thought that a nutter is still posing a danger to the public whilst an innocent man is persecuted just for being a bit strange. Wouldn't be the first time.
Bit late for that, his photo has been plastered everywhere including on BBC News. His life as he knew it is over irrespective of whether he is charged or not. In fact, let's hope he is (obviously if his guilt is proveable) because the alternative is worse.playalistic said:
I heard the police have asked the public to stop searching now. Why would this request be made?
So they don't mess it up, quite bluntly. A spokesperson (I think) said 'the dynamics of the search has changed' which is think translates as 'we are looking for a body in a more specific area and can afford to miss any area with untrained people.' La Liga said:
