No big pension and no hiding behind unions too Edit: I'm not trying out to slag off PCSOs or any other public sector workers. I'm just in awe of how much they can earn and wish I could be fit ( and young ) enough to qualify. Too late for me now but well done too all current serving PCSOs.

I guess this depends on your preference. My colleagues have big houses in posh neighbourhods(longer commute tho), send kids to private school, annual internstinal family holidays etc while I'm a boring old fart who normally just stays at home. Our typical family holiday would normally mean trip to Chessington or the like... Most of my colleagues also have little interest in cars... But well done for no doubt working hard and nice choice of vehicle, I drove one once and it bent my neck sideways around the corners! I would only dream at the salary I can achieve as a PCSO (and PC) but perhaps I would also work much longer hours and also put my life on the line ....It all depends on how you look at it.

specials are volunteer policemen - they are 'normal' police with full powers.pcsos are paid employees - they are not really police as they do not have the power of arrest and infact their role is NOT the same as a normal police officer.
