Thanks all

I'm using the old belt and braces thing...

E-mail the hire car company, the Italian Tourist board, and my wife has contacted some of her colleague.

I will give an update when I know for sure what happened

Do the Italians issue speeding tickets?

A few years back, I was on a Naples roundabout going round the wrong way.
The policeman made me do a 3 point turn on the roundabout, then went about their business biggrin

(I thought it was a junction rather than a roundabout, as someone had parked in front of the arrows)

Jack, total scam. Bin the email. Site was registered and created by two really suspicious dudes. I have PM'd you their info and Facebook profiles.

Update - I sent you some other websites they registered as well.
Sergio and Paolo might be their IT dept, budget cuts and all that laugh

Yes they do. Expensive ones. I got a €180 fine for doing 110kph in a 90 zone.
