Foolishly I may have been a smidgen or a few over the limit on Sunday. I saw a police car over my shoulder on the slip road with his door open.

I'm certain he had a speed gun. Do they have the means to issue tickets from the cars or were they radioing up ahead.

I didn't get pulled I am just wondering whether to get a ticket.

Thanks

Unfortunately you're going to have to wait 2 weeks to find out.

But they usually do have another bike or something up ahead to pull you over, but i dont think its a requirement as such

they do not have to stop you, reg plate and a recorded speed / time / place is all they need to issue a NIP

The proper Police are not looking for those going a couple of MPH over the limit - they're looking for the people taking advantage of an empty road to tank it.

Depends on the type/location/surroundings, but from my experience, you'd probably not even get a tug & warning if your doing/showing less than 80mph in an NSL. Of course they're probably more strict on 30/40mph urban roads.

2 week wait if you are the registered keeper. Some new hand held lasers have built in recording equipment so no need to stop the driver at the roadside.

I can almost certainly guarantee if you were doing 69 on a national single carriageway road you will be getting a ticket.
There is no such thing as reasonable speed policing in this country unless you are pulled by traffic.

I was on a dual carriageway doing upwards of the speed limit.

What is upwards? 79? 80? 100?

Without being specific then you won't get told of the likely outcome.

I always wonder why people speak in code when describing speeding or feel the need to use "leptons" or just won't state a speed...

Has anyone EVER been prosecuted for stating that they had been speeding online? I doubt it, especially without a recording or anything.

You could just say you made it up couldn't you...

How many of those have slip roads?

Unlikely a non-traffic car would be carrying a speed camera.

Largely speed is irrelevant as I was only asking whether traffic plod carried guns which could process a NIP.

Sub 90.

It is relevant as we can tell you the most likely outcome. Traffic plod with a laser with no camera are more likely to target high speeds and pull people over at the scene. A laser with a built in camera are more likely to be used to issue NIP's via post.

They can still issue NIPs via the post using lasers with no cameras it's just more rare as it's far easier to just stop the driver there and then.

Let's see who's drops in first Scott.

I got nabbed by one on an empty D/C in Basildon on Sunday doing 65 in what I thought was a 50, I now have a horrible feeling it drops to 40 at exactly the point they had set up.

Good luck!

Good luck Brad. The most annoying thing about it is that I was driving the missus' 1.2 polo. 12 Years driving and riding and I might potentially get a ticket in the slowest transport I have driven hehe

Unlikely. But you never know.

I don't like to admit defeat but I slowed down after being knabbed twice by "hidden" camera operators.

You see a place where it's safe to make good progress. They see a place where it's easy to catch people.

That's the breaks I suppose mate! Should have taken the bike!

My last 4 cars have all been silly quick but in all that time I've only had 1 speeding ticket - for doing 30 mph!
I was on Southend seafront a week after they dropped the limit to 20 and didn't realise.

Does anyone know how long these new camera radar thingies have to be locked on to you to get a valid reading?
